On a serious note though, has to be yannick bolasie for me. Wasn’t in the team for the playoff final, and then to come through and improve to be the player he was for us, just always liked him and loved to watch him play. The players in that 2014 team are all heroes for me, even Cameron jerome

Jim Cannon - in my opinion he was responsible for us having only 6 or 7 years in the footballing wildenerness instead of 26 or 27 years or more - clubs like West Brom, Wolves, Forest, Stoke who were mighty once have disappeared for a whole generation before making a come back to the big time, it's happening to Ipswich now, JC stood with us through thick and thin, I remember the Ipswich goal to take us to the top of the league and his partnership with Micky Droy with George Wood keeping behind them when we were trying to avoid the drop to the old third division. The ultimate club servant and when they ever build the new stand they should name it after him. Looking back at old clips he seems even better than I remember him - Bryan Robsonesque at times, left back, centre back, and he could do a job in midfield, had real mobility in his youth as well as power. Watch a clip of his debut v Chelsea - built like a brick sh*t house at 19 years old, ten seconds into his debut he gets booked for kicking Peter Osgood in the air, then he scores a superb header to seal a 2-0 win. We are not worthy Sir Jim.

My second choice is very obscure - but I loved David Wright when he played under Dougie - limited technically but positionally one of the most intelligent footballers I've seen in the red and blue, made a poor side so much better by linking up and intervening at crucial times. I think Dougie played him as a sweeper, he was everywhere, coaches the youngsters at Norwich these days, will make a great manager one day imho.

Funny that, I was a 7 year old Man U fan at the time, wanted to see my hero Bobby (my name as a boy) Charlton but he was off with flu. Dada took us out before the end as usual to miss the traffic so I missed number 5. There was a delayed reaction but I work up one morning two weeks later around my 8th birthday and realised I was a Palace fan, and it was the don wot dun it. I enjoyed Rubins as a winger, different level obviously, and everyone slates Lakis for his open miss v Arsenal but he did show a lot of skill, Chamakh was amazing for us as a number 10 for Pulis - in terms of technical skill he might be number one even above Lombardo who may have had more vision. But I enjoyed Taylor, Rogers and Hilaire as much as I enjoy Zaha, and Kenny Sansom wasn't far off them as a winger when he was young - he went a bit conservative even before he went to Arsenal, his performance at home to West Ham in a 1-1 draw in '78 was one of the very best Ive seen for Palace, the west ham fans in the stand were raving about him ... "that is the best left back I've seen for 25 years etc".

I have been a fan from birth (born into it you might say), and as a kid I idolized Don Rogers. Every team in those days had their version of Best, and Don was ours (be it too briefly). Get him on a heavy sodden pitch and he'd rip you a new one. There are so many fantastic players over the years, too many too mention, but as a lad he started me on this wonderous love affair.
