Brilliant win, only 14 points to the magic 40. Going to be another tough game on Saturday, Saints doing well but we can beat them.

Hard fought but deserved 3 points. Sat next to a West Ham supporter in Tenerife watching the game. He shook my hand, said you were much the better team and reckons they are in for a relegation battle.

Given our run of games we needed that 3 points to make up for the Toon result.

As for Ayew’s goal, total worldy. If Salah has scored that it would be goal of the season however Shearer might just consider giving it a worthy mention on motd

Stop talking sense this is the match thread.
West Ham are poor but they will be ok purely because there will be 3 worse teams.

Take note of what ??

He signed him and played him all year when a lot of you fans slated him.

Well, playing him in the right position and not taking him off to bring on Benteke
This season I've praised him; good to see the effort he puts in paying off.

Brilliant performance. Was worried we were going to fail to score. Absolutely deserved the 3 points.

Any idea what's wrong with Jimmy Mac? Didn't look good.

And PVA hamstring again I presume?

Brilliant result.
Anyway it's getting really frustrating, when PVA is injured again.

I’m more concerned with Ayew holding his hamstring at end of game. PVA defo hamstring but Jimmy Mac looked like a bang.

I hope all the Meyer lovers realise why he sits on the bench every week. Bang average football player who offers basically nothing when on the pitch.

Great win with a depleted team, the growing injury list is of deep concern, hopefully, Parish will come up with two or three quality signings sooner rather than later as the facts are, although in 8th position, we are still only eight points from the drop zone which means that it requires only for the third from bottom team to win three on the trot and for us to lose three on the bounce and hey presto we are in the relegation fight, so come on SP/DF support Roy get him the players he needs and prove to us that you can invest and find quality players who want to come to this club!

Roy told it straight in his interview after the match. Said it's demoralizing to go into matches with such a thin squad, and he hopes SJ will sign 4-5 players during transfer window.

Really? I thought he was decent and deserves another start. Some good passes, decent vision. Unlucky with a couple of passes etc.

Great game and good performance all round!

That Ayew goal was something special and that Reidewald block was just so important at that point in the match too!

Overall everyone played well - including Meyer in first half but went a bit missing 2nd so understand why he was taken off

It also requires the other 8 teams below us who are not in the relegation zone to overtake us as well. To me, the relegation benchmark is a point a game, and the three teams currently below that fill the relegation places. Even if we "lose our next three games", which I doubt, we will still be 4 points above a point a game.
