Pardew v Hodgson

the jury was out on Pardew until his time at Palace found dim out, he's like a lot of managers who can make a good impact but can't go beyond that (Dowie, Roy Keane), he still hasn't come back from that and it's four years ago.

The jury was out on Hodgson once before until he showed his worth at Fulham and West Brom, and once again after England. We should never take him for granted - the cheap additions of Ayew and McCarthy were brilliant business, but the Leicester 5-0 days have given way to a lot of scrappy defensiveness (some lovely footy played by us at Fulham yesterday, mind).

I would say that the signing of Gary Cahill on a free was a gift from the Footballing gods! I'm still pinching myself!

Pardew was stylish football, lots of heroics, and lots of narrow defeats. Full of promise of greatness to come....full of disappointment.

the Newcastle fans were right.

Pardew thought you motivated underperforming players by publicly dissing them on telly. I know no great managers who ever pull that trick.
