When was he ever a hero and breath of fresh air? Has always been a hypocritical shi*bag.

Quotes before joining leave campaign:

"I would be well up for trying to make the positive case" (for staying in the EU)

A brexit vote would: "embroil the Government for several years in a fiddly process of negotiating new arrangements, diverting energy from the real problems that have nothing to do with Europe.”

4 weeks before joining the leave campaign, on the possibility of leading the leave campaign: "the trouble is I'm not an outer"

IM Palace: How right you are to highlight Boris' turncoat attitude for primarily his own personal interests. He is NOT fit to be Prime Minister now or ever. A political puppet at best.

The " I'm not an outer " comment was taken out of context he was of course talking about his belly button.

And quite right too, those outy things are proper rank.

Boris for PM.

(Only joking Teresa May is the obvious choice.)

Boris doesn't want to tell the good people of Uxbridge and South Ruislip that their driveways are going to become a runway

Also re Boris

These Jam lyrics to Eton Rifles have never seemed more relevant

Thought you were clever when you lit the fuse
Tore down the House of Commons in your brand new shoes
Composed a revolutionary symphony
Then went to bed with a charming young thing

Disagree. People knew what they were voting for, they just didn't know they might not get it, or only get part of it. Or they knew that my be the case that you had to leave to reform or have the changes you want.

All those celebrities claiming you reform from within aren't worth a minute's attention. Izzard, Geldof, any of them. What did Cameron get? Nothing. What will anyone get with draconian measures if you want change? Nothing.

I think this is the one certainty out of all of this. Unless you shock and shake them up, nothing ever happens apart from more members, less net contributors and more net receivers, more displeasure.

Agree about the celebs. I was a remainer but I do resent people in a more privileged place than me (both numeratively and geographically) lecturing that I should be grateful for the wondrous gifts showered on me by the EU - of course European migration certainly doesn't affect their neighbourhoods.

It is going to be a proper sh*t fest for whoever is PM during this transitional period. They will either go down as the person who f**ked Britain or, at best, the person who oversaw the imploding of their party.

Once they have been blamed and turfed out, matters may have settled and a new status quo will exist. Into this relative stability will step a highly undeserving candidate who will take full credit for steadying the ship.

Step forward mop head. He may look a fool, but he is not one.

Its like being a war time PM, you're either the person who saved the country, and venerated in history etc or that executed person who's responsible for us all having to learn German....

An Italian just suggested in a newspaper comments section, "in Britain, you have plenty of Brutuses, but no Caesar".

How true.

I rather think that's been his plan all along.

Churchill was universally vilified (rightly) before stepping up in 1940. BoJo is clearly an admirer of his, having written a very well-received biography of him and thinks that perhaps he may emulate him.

You're right. He's no fool. Underestimate him at your peril.

I am enjoying everyone on Facebook going "Oh god, not Jeremy Hunt" or "Theresa May would be terrible" or "Don't appoint this clown Michael Gove" and I just say to them "they are replacing David Cameron, get a grip".
