Seems TSSA have backed down over weekend strikes. Shame those CUNDS at RMT won't put the entire nation first for a change.
Preston are sponsored by Virgin and they'll have no services to get the fans home from the playoff final.

I had a thought earlier and some people were saying it was wrong/selfish to vote for your own interests only during the elections. So how is voting to strike knowing full well you're going to be shafting anyone looking to travel or commute to work over the weekend? Just because a very small minority are unhappy.

I hope the clergy have a union.
They did, often it seems with children, but its ok the Pope has sorted that out.

RMT called it off now as well. Still a bunch of slags. Not quite. They've only suspended it. So they've turned a busy bank holiday weekend, into one far quieter than normal. Now, who does that benefit...

I've always found it amazing that retired workers who are still members of the union get to vote on strike action. They won't have to walk out and lose a day's pay (must be some sort of power trip to be able to insist on people who actually stand to lose out by strike action when you won't personally be affected). The comparisons with elections are, of course, fallacious (as I'm sure those making them are well aware). Expecting a decent majority in a yes/no decision seems far more reasonable than expecting it in a Con/Lab/LD/Green/UKIP/SNP/PC/Other choice. If you get a quarter of the votes in an upwards of 6 horse race, you're doing pretty well. Anyone who is still working and fails to vote is a bit spineless in my opinion (I can understand the whole "none of the above, they are all weasels" attitude in an election, but "I don't know whether to strike or not so I'll just leave it to others to decide" seems an indication of indifference to the issue)
Fully agree with the rest of the post

Am I right in thinking that those against unions are happy for workers not to have any say in how they are treated? Or recourse of action if they are treated unfairly?

I think the unions lost their way a while ago. More interested in issuing credit cards and supporting the 'rights' of various self-important minority interests. Jack Jones - there was a proper union man.

Fully agree with the rest of the post You can opt to be a lifetime member of a union, you still pay your dues etc. Quite popular with people who have pensions etc with the union.
