Agreed, but you have to consider personal tax avoidance reason. There are lots of losses that can be offset against income or capital gains to reduce your tax bill. Any good accountant will help their clients minimise their tax bill by finding legitimate losses they can use in this way! Without casting aspersions against any of our former or current chairmen, I'm sure well-off businessmen use all sorts of dodgy schemes when it comes to tax. That said, I'd reckon the only way owning Palace would work as a tax loss is that you end making such a monumental actual loss that even the taxman feels sorry for you. They say that the best way to make a small fortune is to start off with a large one and then buy a football club. Isn't that basically what Jordan did?

And now there are reports saying Howe has had an interview for the Palace job but he 'tanked' it: [Link]

Unless Howe has leaked it.

What sort of capital losses can you offset against income tax as I don't know of any

To use a loss you generally have to make a loss (there is a clue in there) It's like claiming things against tax - still costs you a minimum 2/3rds of the total amount. Anyone who buys a business to run it for the losses is generally not going to have a business for too long.

He was home sick when he went to Burnley, might explain why he didn’t fancy Glasgow. So travelling up to us from Bournemouth would suit him better.

Needs more time than de Boer got, period, I'd suggest. Whoever we hire, if we're genuinely going for transition, we simply cannot throw the towel in after 4 games again.

Agreed. Taking the longer term view and seeing it through requires some backbone- if a transition in style is the goal. Plus the new guy will have to bring in some trusted players who he knows can play his way and help the others adapt to a more forward thinking approach.

Ideal time to do it with so many players out of contract. DeBoer might have had a sniff of a chance if we’d got him in a couple of months earlier and he could’ve jiggled the playing staff around a bit. Also 4 friendlies, with two of them round the other side of the world was a joke, he never stood a chance.

FdB seemed to lose the respect of the players almost immediately with Zaha even openly mocking him on social media before he was booted. Parish has said FdB got the job on the basis of a very good interview but that very quickly they realised the decision was a mistake. It was not about results I don't think. He has said that FdB was a lovely guy while at the club though. Personally I would have guessed Howe would be Parish's number one choice as he ticks so many boxes - young, PL experience, out of contract, worked with a club of our size, arguably plays more attractive football. Personally I find him hard to like, but I wouldn't be upset if he got the job. Plus maybe he could help us get Brooks from Bournemouth.
