It maybe that Parish is unable to land one of his targets then it is up to Roy if he wants to stay another year knowing he was not first choice. I think next season is naturally challenging with large squad changes and most probably and significantly Zaha leaving. I think Parish and co want a more impactful manager to energize what will look like a new team through that. It might be Frank Boer 2.0.....or maybe, just maybe the start of a 'Coppell-like' era.

A person who understands business, finance etc would never put their money into a football club. It's done for love, whether of the club or just the game. Noades, Goldberg, Jordan, and now Parish all put their own money in when they didn't have to. In three of those cases they prevented the club going to the wall.

Whilst it is undoubtedly a risky venture all of the initial investors secured their investments by way of debentures over the clubs assets so if it all went pear shaped again they would recover their money through asset sales

I remember the Goldberg era.....It should have gone far better for him but instead it was a disaster for him and us. I couldn't disagree with his initial decisions...I remember being elated at the time that Venables had returned and I thought he'd have the golden touch. I should look into it more deeply as the first Venables era was so iconic for the club, but I had the impression that second time around Venables wasn't that interested at that stage and was more about the money.....He was always a Spurs man at heart. What is mad is that Coppell is 8 years younger than Roy. It feels like he should be 80 or something! Evening Standard reporting that Roy's departure will be announced before the Arsenal game so the 6,500 fans can say goodbye. He deserves our gratitude even if many of us have long since become fed up with the football. With a changing of the guard now is the perfect time for someone new to come in and put their mark on the squad.

Agreed, but you have to consider personal tax avoidance reason. There are lots of losses that can be offset against income or capital gains to reduce your tax bill. Any good accountant will help their clients minimise their tax bill by finding legitimate losses they can use in this way!
