This is precisely what I suspect, and fair play to Parish for putting the club first by exploring all options even if it is a bit rude to Roy.

Don't forget that Parish is primarily a businessman and what benefits the club also benefits him financially too

There is no room for sentimentality in football. Roy picks up a very handsome wage but it is a fixed term contract and the club has every right to look around to see if they can get someone better.

It maybe that Parish is unable to land one of his targets then it is up to Roy if he wants to stay another year knowing he was not first choice.

Rather like being an MP there is always a queue for this so called "terrible job".

Reported in todays Times that Roy is leaving.

Now would be the time for Parish to break radio silence.

It also says that Lampard won’t be on the shortlist. Interesting

There's only one way to sort this "next manager" conundrum: which one sounds better in a chant?

"Frankie Lampard's Red n Blue Army!"

"Eddie Howe's Red n Blue Army!"

"Sean Dyche's Red n Blue Army!"

"Pep Guardiola's Red n Blue Army!"

This was 2 days ago. Rumours travel fast in football.

why would be do that off the back of paper rumours? He and Roy will have discussed and agreed the announcement timings so they should stick to the plan, which would have been respectful of Roy and the club and allow Mr Hodgson his due send-off for the last game.

Yeah, but is it sensible for a businessman to get into football?

Unless you have money to burn like petrol it seems like a bad gamble most of the time.
