Jealous of what?
I would like you to find a post of mine where I have been rude about other European cultures, happy hunting. If you find one I will apologise, if you don’t will you?

Good grief man, you post that? It is drivel.

French legislation requiring that food containing dairy label which country the milk originated from is in line with EU regulations, the European Court of Justice ruled in a case between the French government and multinational dairy corporation Lactalis.

[Link]

However, the French Council of State just nullified the COOL law relating to milk as it considered it excessive and a law brought in solely to favour Lactalis.

The meat law remains in place does it not?

Please don’t post nonsense, it is unhelpful.

so you are saying that the Express is incorrect whe they state:

"The so-called Egalim 2 Law was passed by the French Parliament on Thursday after the first reading. The regulation seeks to no longer oblige to systematically mention the origin of the meat and dairy products used in prepared dishes"

Okay I bow to your superior knowledge you might want to ask the Express for a correction.

We really don't have to love them as nations or people. That wasn't even part of the non-existent EU Citizen's Charter.

Yes. It isn’t law yet. First reading is the clue. It has to go to the senate.

The adopted text supplements article L412-4 of the Consumer Code which stipulates that “the indication of the country of origin is compulsory for agricultural and food products and seafood, in the raw or processed state” by the following statement “for which there is a proven link between some of their properties, in particular in terms of public health protection and consumer protection, and their origin”.

Corrected in bold for Orange 1290, I may have been unfair before.

You are really quite confused about things in my opinion.

But I believe you are entitled your opinion, and you believe I am entitled to your opinion.

Good to see you have no issues with any Chinese policies about for example prison labour or what might be happening with minorities in the West.

I am sure you unique skill set is fondly missed in China.

Don't get me wrong, I am not suggesting it is idiotic to make a judgement on a country you visited for a short period years ago and possible interacted with 0.00005% of the population.

I am sure one could form a valid opinion on London for example by talking to 5 people.

You are to the politics forum what Dazza is to the manager prediction thread.

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.

China? Great country, worked there for 9 months some years ago. Great people and fantastic food. You should give it a try some day......ah yes, you've no choice now anyway, how's the new 'regime'? I bet you're not waiving blighty's old flag anymore over there

Edited by Orange1290 (26 Jun 2021 3.43am)

How can you call accuse Owen of being 'in denial' and then also call China a great country?

A country that doesn't afford its own citizens the same basic freedoms that most of the world has....a country willing to lie about just about anything....try finding out about the Tiananmen Square massacre or 'Tank man' from the Internet in China.

China is a great country unless you are:

Uyghurs
Tibetan
Hong Kong
Taiwanese
Christian
etc. etc.

Oddly, here in Hong Kong, the Falun Gong group which is basically outlawed as a dangerous cult in PRC are freely allowed to have a virtually permanent protest pitch site outside a major department store here with signs basically calling the CPC evil and hell bound. Another one of the contradictions.

I went to a Chinese ballet / martial arts performance in London not realising it was a PR tour for the Falun Gong. Oddly there were lots of Christian group in the audience supporting them. As for the performance it was pretty poor they only seems to have 2 or 3 moves.

So that's what you do in your spare time

China is now the major power and we have to realise it and get along imho.

The G7 just a group of waffling irrelevance.
