I’m of the opinion that , Roy and ray will stay on another season, then paddy takes over , maybe with Roy or ray moving upstairs and still providing advice , this would be brilliant as I’ve always said Palace need a “palace” manager , I always thought jedinak would get his coaching badges at some point and come back

What does moving upstairs mean? To do what exactly?

Roy is clearly loving it at the moment - and so he should!

But he knows (and has alluded to in interviews) things can change quickly in football.

I hope he continues to do the job we asked him to - keep us up and then retires as even more of a Palace legend than he was.

Longer term planning needs to focus on a coach/manager who has a track record to back up an ability to develop young talent with full understanding that we will not be able to compete financially with most other clubs in the league.

I reckon we’ll end up with Cooper - not sure how I feel about that, Vincent Company would be an exciting prospect and my first choice.

With the greatest of respect we are not on the same page on this matter.

We all have different opinions so that’s fine Willo , I respect your posts and your obviously knowledgable , but don’t forget paddy has done wonders with our academy , everyone starts somewhere and I believe it would be a fantastic thing to happen in a year or so time

I am far from convinced I am a font of knowledge but I thank you for your sentiments!

I am not deriding Paddy McCarthy's efforts at the Academy in any shape or form but we are not 'Birds on the same twig' on the wider subject.HOL would be exceedingly boring if we all agreed with one another !

Agree , would be a very dull place if all agreed plus the arguments are very funny at times

Firstly how do you know that he has the respect of all the squad and secondly he may have the title of Assistant Manager but it's noticeable that when Roy wants a second opinion it's Ray that he turns to

Would you name someone assistant manager in your business if they hadn’t proved their worth ? And wouldn’t have respect of the squad? I agree he goes to ray , but I think it’s a stepping stone for paddy and I believe the club think he’s our future , just my opinion

A perfect start for Mr Hodgson in terms of results and team performances, accordingly I can understand the arguments for retaining his services, however there are 8 games remaining and I shall reserve judgement until later.

Very good call and Im with you on that. However, assuming they bring in a good turn of results from those 8 games I can see some good benefits sticking with them moving forwards. Here's hoping.

Mr Hodgson and Ray Lewington have been very much a team in recent years.
Lewington is not exactly in the flush of youth and he might not have the desire for an extended role at a club.
If he doesn't want an extension then perhaps this would influence the decision of Mr Hodgson.

And vice-versa? I'd like to see Ray Lewington and Shaun Derry involved...

This is how I see it playing out. I can see Roy getting a 2 year deal with Paddy staying as his assistant then taking the reigns.
