West Brom 3-0 up against Southampton..!! Think our backstop is the game against Sheff U - win that and on to 41 points and we're hosed and dried. In between times can see the chasing pack catching us up..!! Meantime I'll be having nightmares of the Oldham scenario with BFS smiling at me in his clowns outfit..!! COYP.!!

After today's win WBA will have played 31 games and attained 24 pts. Their remaining fixtures : A : Leicester I felt they would beat Southampton but I cannot see them attaining too many more points this season.

8 points behind Newcastle. It's a tall order to catch them, never mind us 14 points ahead of them. They can, of course, overtake Fulham and I suspect they now will do so with their game in hand. Back-to-back wins over Chelsea and Saints, though, not to be sniffed at.

I've spent the season worrying about our chances of staying up and I'm finding it really hard accepting we are probably safe for another season. COYP

Oldham, Premier League, 1992-93 It's one thing to overturn an eight-point gap to avoid relegation; quite another to do so in the final week of the season. Joe Royle's Oldham had to win three games in seven days and hope either Crystal Palace or Sheffield United made a horlicks of their last two fixtures. The problem was that the first of those three games was away to Aston Villa, who had to win to keep their title challenge alive. On the face of it they had no chance, but Oldham handled the end-of-season pressure/need equation better than Villa and a goal from Nick Henry put the cat among the pigeons. The problem was that, because Henry's goal gave Manchester United their first title for 26 years, its real significance was lost. Indeed, Palace's Geoff Thomas would later say that the relegation battle crept up on them from nowhere. When a resurgent Sheffield United did the necessary at Everton on the Tuesday, the survival battle was down to two. A day later Oldham beat a feeble Liverpool 3-2 at Boundary Park, while Palace drew 0-0 at Manchester City - ostensibly a decent result, but one which left Palace, who four days earlier had done a lap of honour after their last home game on the assumption of safety, horribly exposed to a final-day sting. If Oldham won and Palace lost, Oldham were safe and Palace were down. On the final day Palace, away at Arsenal, were never in the game and lost 3-0, but Oldham's home match against Southampton oscillated wildly: despite a Matthew Le Tissier hat-trick, Oldham squeaked home 4-3. Edited by Therealeaglestilidie (11 Apr 2021 9.41pm) remember the lap of honour after ipswich well.

If Fulham manage to match our standing points total, they will have to take points from three teams currently below us. Their other three games are away at Arsenal, Chelsea and Man U. West Brom need to win three and not lose the others to match it. All assuming we don't pick up a single point. And yeah, no need to remind me that last season blah blah blah.... We're safe. And never "just avoiding relegation" or "just scraping survival" Let's have a lap of honour!

Never known such negativity as here. I wanted West Brom to beat Ston so we stay above them. Unfortunately a big gap has now opened up from us and Wolves to Leeds. The best we can hope for now is 12 th. but relegation?? Come off it. Change your mindsets.

If Howe or Lampard are the choice of Parish why not replace Roy now so some young players get some game time, if Dyche is his choice then obviously that would be different, if Roy stays and the old codgers get new contracts then god help us
