There's been plenty of occasions when the crowed has tore into one of our players dilly dallying on the ball, when its been quite clear the player has had non options for a pass.

Seems strange to do this now, just after Schlupp has been injured. Now there's no back up for Eze on that wing.

It IS odd ... unless they are teeing up someone to come in his place?

Hopefully, not another pensioner.

You've answered your own question. Which begs another: Why did the trio of Parish, Freedman, and Hodgson think it was a good idea? Chuck in Sorloth for good measure and it is not too difficult to conclude that scouting and recruitment is not up to par.

Provided of course they extended their medical insurance at the same time.

It has been said this is a mutual decision, it could be more Meyers decision than, one Palace would have normally made right now.
I don’t think Dougie, or anyone else can be blamed for thinking Meyer, had great potential, it just hasn’t happened. He is just another young player that has not progressed as far as was hoped.
The thing for everybody , is why prolong the agony. Meyer has been going nowhere much, for some time he has had time to find his feet. As Eze, has done. It has never quiet come off for him. It doesn’t make him a bad player just not quiet what suits us. Hope he finds a club where he can do the business because he is a real talent, just not reaching his full potential yet.

That is what the club said so presumably that is so. As such it may mean there was also a compromise regarding how much of his remaining contract was paid off. I imagine Max will hope to be picked up by another club soon so he can start playing again and try to rebuild his career.

We kept hearing about this wonderful young talent from Germany but I don't recall any great demand for his services from clubs in the Bundesliga or other PL clubs in this country.

Because of the way we play, to fit into Roy's team you either need to be a grafter like McArthur, or a flair player. We don't really have space for neat and tidy Jorghino type players as we don't usually have much possession. Meyer failed to prove he could cope with the physical side of the game, and unlike Eze he failed to come in and prove himself to be a real flair player. Technically he looked good, but his shooting was weak and he got easily muscled off the ball. By the end he was a long way down the pecking order. Hopefully the club will learn from this and not get won over so easily by the idea of a "star" player on a "free" transfer. The signings of Eze and Ferguson point towards a different approach moving forward, which is potentially good.

These are wise words.

Even Havertz hasn't made the splash that was expected. There are some fine teams in the Bundesliga, but the pace of the game is different. I don't quite buy the idea that Meyer didn't spend enough time in the gym. If a player with talent fails to develop, it's not just the player's fault.

Well certainly there was a question mark as to what appeared to be a lack of interest.
But this kid didn’t get in the German national side because his uncle knew the manager. The fact is players don’t all progress, some go backwards to a degree. Max appears to have hit a brick wall, to some extent but he is still young enough , do a better than average job for someone, and who knows , we might all be saying why didn’t he work out here in a few years time. He is talented so are numerous others, he has to take that talent to another level.
