QPR were the first team in the league to lay a 'Plastic' pitch. It was laid in 1981 and lasted until 1988.

Currently they are not permitted for teams in the EFL, so any team with such a pitch that is eligible for promotion has to rip up the pitch they paid about £500K to install or face relegation.

Did QPR’s really last until 88?? That surprised me. Oldham and Luton had one as well

The artificial pitches now are so much better than the 80’s versions, back then they were awful, they really were like a big bouncy plastic mat

I believe Bromley paid £250k for their pitch, of which some was a grant

Indeed QPR had their artifical pitch until 1988.

In addition to Luton and Oldham, Preston also installed an artificial pitch.Preston were the last team to rip up their pitch, back in 1994.

Watching some of these older games I am not sure I realised how good Yohan Cabaye was for us. His vision was far and away better than most, we miss him.

Also what I was pleasantly surprised at when we signed him, as well as having that touch of class, he wasn’t scared to get stuck in when the tackles were flying around

We saw that at Newcastle as well - liked a tackle and could be aggressive. At Newcastle he wasn't shy of shooting from distance and scored some from distance, indeed he had the ability to score from free kicks from some way out.In actual fact he had a good shot with both feet.

Both Yohan Cabaye and Eden Hazard's first club was Lille and they were there at the same time.

Overall he did well for us but towards the end he looked a tired player and never lasted the full match.

I recall Jan Molby being manager of the club.
Current Tranmere manager Micky Mellon was a Kidderminster player.

Probably most famous player to come from there in recent times was Paul Jones who went on to become Southampton and Wales Goalie.
A certain John Pemberton was manager at one stage - wherever he was from.

I recall Paul Jones who if my memory serves me well was a left-footer and a very good shot stopper.I think that David Jones signed him a few times.

I'm surprised you didn't give me the big Paul Jones quiz answer. I believe he is the first Goalie to come on as a substitute in an FA Cup final. Which is pretty incredible since that had to be late 90s or early 2000s. Definitely Southampton but I don't really remember the game. One of those years that Palace were having problems of one sort or another would be my guess.

here's a beauty - away at leeds in 1970, we wear blue shirts with red trim (same kit we won away at Old Trafford on Bobby Charlton's 500th game) - we go one up, what a goal! as I remember Palace pre-Coppell, nice football but a bit powder puff - I won't give you the final score - 4 minutes of vintage Palace here ...

To be totally honest I never read any question that you posed, accordingly never provided an answer!

I am aware that Paul Jones was the first goalkeeper to enter the field of play as a substitute in an FA Cup Final, I just cannot recall who he replaced.
