This is a hugely refreshing comment. Football with your local team has far more to do with watching entertaining games than it does trying to hobnob with those we know we are struggling to compete with. Football is supposed to be about entertainment first, but people seem to have lost sight of that. I know we can’t expect great games with attacking free flowing football every week, we have to dig in and grind results out as well, but the last few seasons it’s been terrible at Selhurst, game after game, especially this season, I sit in the Whitehorse and we’ve had one goal up our end league and cup all season, unbelievable really.

I feel like relegation would work wonders for a club like us, but..... it needn't be, but I just don't see parish letting us go - he likes the premier too much, and we never do things the easy way - parish will want to stay on to fix the mistakes and ruin us further. If it were me, in Parish's shoes - I would sell haha this summer - we need to move on, we can't invest around him, so let him go. I would also expect us to be saying goodbye to Benteke, Sakho, Wickham. PVA & Meyer. Let's say that leaves us with 100 million in the bank - regardless of prem money, prizes etc. It also leaves us with a lower wage bill. I would invest In younger, hungry players - we would start looking now. We would need a LB, RB, winger x2 and striker. I would want us playing a style that was cohesive as a club from top to bottom and that would take time, but the planning starts now. I would also invest in the youth academy. I would be clear, mid table is the goal, with a cup run. I would lean to 3/4 boring mediocre seasons in the prem and build on it. I would focus on character, heart and youth and if we went down in the process, that's collateral. The prem isn't the be all and end all. Let's be honest, we could very well go down this season - the stats right now do not lie, we are the worse club in the league on many things. We have a crazy high wage bill and if we did go down, what was it for? What is our legacy from 8 years in the premier? Beaky screwing her off the telly.

The age of our squad means relegation or not the squad will need an overhaul within the next two or three years. As someone who lives abroad staying in the PL is important to me as I can still see the team play, so there is that selfish point. On top of that though, I don't buy into this idea that there would be more entertainment in the Championship. We barely had a season where we played great football (I don't remember one from our last stint, albeit there were purple patches) and we had some truly terrible players and managers; we also went into administration. Go down and the club would probably still revert to hiring an experienced old pro who would have us playing similar football but against lesser opposition and with less talented players with the aim of limping back into the PL. Maybe I'm wrong, but the financial pressures suggest probably not. Stay in the PL and we might be able to attract new wealthy owners who in turn might bring a new approach to the club.

Burnley were relegated in 2014-15 season but won the Championship and came straight back up finishing 16th in the PL. They retained a number of players when they were relegated and they delivered promotion IE Heaton,Gilks,Ward,Mee,Keane,Marney,Boyd,Arfield,Kightly,Jones,Taylor,Vokes,Barnes,Jutkiewicz. Should we be relegated, there will be no continuity and there will be a total reset in terms of personnel.Big upheavel m'thinks!

I've said it hundreds of times before but it will be very difficult to sell the club whilst Parish insists on retaining his shareholding and running the club Pretty much the only type who'd be interested is the 'investor' looking to make a reasonably quick buck, but as the US investors found out, making a profit from a small PL club isn't easy. As you rightly say, the sort of buyer that would put big money into the club and its infrastructure would unlikely to be interested whilst Parish is still sat there like the spectre at the feast. There's a certain irony that the bloke who, as part of the gang of four, kept the club afloat, and thriving for a while, has now become a total liability. Parish's mistake was accepting the US money and effectively putting the club in hock to two individuals who have no interest in it, beyond a quick profit. Add that to him being immovable and we're rapidly heading up the proverbial without a paddle.

If the novelty of being in the Premier League has worn off, the novelty of being in the Championship will wear off a f*ck sight quicker.
