Er - sorry to go against the grain here, but don't forget that James Tomkins scored with a rather splendid header from a corner at Anfield recently, so it's not exactly like we never score from corners. Doesn't happen often though.....! With the size and physical prowess of all our centre backs (Sakho/Tomkins/Dann) + Tekkers of course, it's a source of bemusement that we are so ineffective with those set pieces. Same with free kicks of course..

i have to say...i was sceptical of schlupps signing, it was expensive and big on wages.

however, it has to be said, whenever called upon he has done a solid if not spectacular job, which is fine.

it has been mooted he is the best finisher at the club, and has chipped in with a few goals.

i have changed my opinion on him, he in my eyes is now a solid versatile player who when called upon does a solod job.

however, i would rather max start in front of him, but thats not my call, its roys...and in my eyes roy can do nothing wrong whatsoever.

Me too, I have certainly warmed to Jeff more now. Starting to see his contribution a little more. You cannot take away from him that he does have a goal threat. I am a bit torn with regards to Max. For me he takes the easy ball all too often. There were occasions yesterday when he had space to carry the ball but more often than not will go sideways. Of course I do not not know what instructions he is under but for me, he could take far more risks and responsibility and can actually slow us down. At least Jeff does try to get the ball up the pitch. I actually thought Max was a bit meh yesterday and I would guess hes back on the bench against Leicester. In fairness to Max as well with his limited game time he has chipped in with a couple of goals. Against the Hammers he was very impressive, particularly his link up play with Wilf. Its I just dont see what a lot of Palace fans see at the moment. Maybe its a similar case as with when Cabaye first joined, he turned out to not be the type of player we were expecting, albeit a very good one. Problem he is going to have with us is that I just dont think that when we play a 3 in midfield he is ever going to play regularly. It looks like he just doesnt fit into what Roy wants.

He's a grafter, always puts a shift in and isn't afraid to shoot.

It says a lot about the sorry state of football that a player of his ability goes for £10m. He can’t pass, his first touch is appalling and he goes missing time and time again when we lose the ball- often because of him. I’m astounded that anyone can’t see that Max is pure class- he’s the complete antithesis of Schlupp. Never gives the ball away, always available for a pass, probably the best touch in the club. Meyer is pure class and we were very lucky to get him. If he gets game time he won’t be with us in two years, it’s that simple for me

Great words
TURN ON THE MAX
Great to see Max stronger, more determined, more focus, has more hunger, more able to find space in tight areas and has vision, something our team needs.
But back to Jeffrey, brilliant run and shot yesterday, was able to use the space because Zaha was not there and worked better for him as player rather than looking for Zaha to always pass to. BUT yes his first touch is questionable........ Good game overall yesterday

PLEASE can we have a Throw ON Coach, three times yesterday, OURS way up the pitch, three passes and it was back to Hennessy!!

In away it is, he must notice we don't score from corners, A/ because the corner kicks are terrible, B/ seems like there isn't any plan with the players in the box, (that just might be the poor corner kicks though,)if he can't sort it out he should hire a defensive coach.
This must be the worse Palace team ever for scoring from corners.

wouldn't mind a rewrite of that song from a year or so ago about Jeffrey loving a seven up to the agadoo tune (if I remember right) - maybe change sometimes he's fkin s***e to loves a sprite seeing as he's doing ok (although he drives me mad with his jogging around and weak tackling)- spomething like this from memory

Jeffrey Schlupp Schlupp Schlupp
He loves a seven up
Jeffrey Schlupp Schlupp Schlupp
He's keeping Palace up
To the left to the right
Sometimes he has a sprite
Jeffrey Schlupp Schlupp Schlupp
he's keeping Palace up.

Caught dawdling on the ball, robbed and makes no effort to get back and cover, instead berates the ref! Very poor.

I agree with everything except Schlupp has pace, power and energy far exceeding Meyer's. He also has a simple policy. Get in the box and whack it at goal as hard as possible. No f***ing about with any clever passing nonsense. In the position he's now in, and with his ability to do this quite well, that's potentially a goal every 3 or 4 games. That might keep us up.

Meyer is a fantastic footballer, don't get me wrong. And better than Schlupp in every way you describe. But Schlupp aggressively closes space, pressures the opposition, and generally has qualities (that I think he's very aware of).

Part of me wonders if Kouyate, Schlupp and Meyer wouldn't work quite well. Harsh on our brilliant captain, mind, and I'm more thinking out loud than advocating it. It would be more mobile.

If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities.

It's nice to have competition for places at last, five players (all with slightly different qualities) competing for three midfield places.

I agree that Meyer is the 'classiest' of the five but class isn't everything - pace, energy, strength (in the air and in the tackle) are important qualities too.

Schlupp has done well recently and seems to be ahead of Meyer in the pecking order at the moment. I do like Meyer as a player but I can understand why he isn't starting on a regular basis.
