I nominate Mark Clattenberg.

That guy is actually getting sh1t done.

He's working on so many modern first world issues.....The battery work is fascinating.

His electric cars drive themselves; he has his rockets land back on Earth like a Thunderbird and he's working - actually physically building the stuff - to settle people on Mars. Also, he believes it's very possible that we're all living in The Matrix.

With all of this, I still think the best part is that he's nicknamed his Mars ship the "BFR".

We could send people to Mars tomorrow. That's easy.

The hard part is actually getting people to still be alive when they get there, how to keep them alive when they're there, and how to get them back alive.

Obviously...i suggest you watch his video

I'm more hopeful rather than expectant on that one....but at least this guy is doing it.

By way of comparison and contrast, the U.S. military budget is more than half the total.

Yeah and no world wars.

Funny that.

I was boasting to someone yesterday about the historical nature of my house. In the 1960's the company operating here made components for the moon landings.
These components were left on the moon in order to lose weight for the return to Earth. So stuff made in my house is still on the moon !

Then I thought about it a bit more. Actually that makes me liable for clean-up costs under "The Polluter Pays" Principle. My house is culpable of inter-planetary fly tipping.

Once proud of my house, I am now also a bit ashamed

Admittedly he's not the most gifted orator but nonetheless this presentation is mightily impressive on progress and the thinking behind how to get to Mars.
