May getting a lot of new backers amongst MPs ATM. Gove too, but less so. Looks like Boris might get hung out to dry here. Though quite a few Boris supporters amongst MPS have at least not jumped ship, though many refuse to say whether they will change allegiance. This doesn't surprise me at all. I watched him carefully throughout the referendum campaign and he was clearly out of his buffoon comfort zone. You can be a lot more flamboyant in a mayoral role. Apart from the question of whether he even wanted Brexit, my conclusion is that he has neither got the gravitas or the balls to take on such an important post as PM. So from being a hero and breath of fresh air, he looks likes one of the worst examples of what is wrong with 'establishment' politics. Back to HIGNFY BJ.

IMO I think it's the enormity of where we are, the tough talking and negotiating, not that he could never do it.

When was he ever a hero and breath of fresh air? Has always been a hypocritical shi*bag. Quotes before joining leave campaign: "I would be well up for trying to make the positive case" (for staying in the EU) A brexit vote would: "embroil the Government for several years in a fiddly process of negotiating new arrangements, diverting energy from the real problems that have nothing to do with Europe.” 4 weeks before joining the leave campaign, on the possibility of leading the leave campaign: "the trouble is I'm not an outer"

Boris not running, didn't see that coming. Calculated gamble that whoever takes it on now with all the uncertainty in the country, the role is f*cked regardless possibly. I think it was more 'injured in warm up' than not running. The Labour Leaders won't stand down, the Torys are falling all over the place. UKIP have some bad news as well, as it looks like one of the major supporters, who put 6m behind the leave campaign, is looking at starting his own party. If only someone knew, or cared, who the leader of the liberal democrats, is this week, surely they must fancy some kind of coup. Although in fairness to the Lib Dems, its more like Musical Chairs, without any seats being taken away. They really can't afford to lose a single seat.

True Rudi, but all I'm left with is a sour taste that his role in the campaign was simply to get votes from those who simply saw him as a bit of a laugh, and really hadn't got a clue what to vote for.

Disagree. People knew what they were voting for, they just didn't know they might not get it, or only get part of it. Or they knew that my be the case that you had to leave to reform or have the changes you want. All those celebrities claiming you reform from within aren't worth a minute's attention. Izzard, Geldof, any of them. What did Cameron get? Nothing. What will anyone get with draconian measures if you want change? Nothing. I think this is the one certainty out of all of this. Unless you shock and shake them up, nothing ever happens apart from more members, less net contributors and more net receivers, more displeasure.

Poisoned chalice. Imagine offering this up in a shop window: "You might potentially get to put your name on the UK breaking up and organise the terms of Brexit which will make approximately half the population want to kill you regardless of what terms you put in place". Is the correct answer. He'll certainly want it in a few years' time, though.
