Nobody is complaining about people who come here and have a skill to offer and generally work and pay their own way. What we don't need is people who are unskilled and do manual work (we have enough of our own people who can do that), we also don't need people who are coming here to play the system.

I agree, the corporate elite are taking the piss. Good thing Osbourne's got our backs though - getting Google to pay at least 3% of their tax.

That does seem to be the case and it shouldn't. Too many of our own think that benefits is a lifestyle choice when it isn't. They should be made to do these jobs and have their benefits stopped so they have to take employment. Of course that won't happen because the welfare system in this country is ludicrous.

HAHAHAHAHAH this thread is a complete joke. OP should be ashamed of himself. Disgusting to blame the problems in society on immigrants who by and large come here to work hard and get on. fed up eagle has the reasoning and logical skills of a 6 year old if he can't contextualise what he reads and look at the source. Actually come to say that year 2 SATS are quite difficult these days.... If you really think immigrants are the cause of the problems in this country, I feel quite sorry for you.

Indeed the Hyperbole king F.U.E. full of piss, hot air & nowt else. (And this coming from someone on the Right) other posters have hit the nail on the head. Its not so much the immigrants per se who cause the Issues, Its those feckless, feral scumbags who think it beneath them to pick fruit & Veg or Dig trenches or serve your Fried Chicken who are nearly all to blame. Personally I'd like to see a system brought in where if one of these wasters turn down three nailed on job opportunities they have their benefits stopped with immediate effect. Maybe it would shake up some of these people to get off their backsides & find proper employment. The problem with a lot of these c***s is that they have bought in to the Reality TV scenario where a lot of them think that they are going to be the next BIG thing.........

With low paid jobs is there anything to the idea that new immigrants are more likely to live several to a house and have lower living costs as result? I know some of us are lazy sods but other factors may be relevant too.

People claiming benefits whether rightly or wrong is a far lesser drain on the economy than the systemic avoidance of tax by global elite corporations. Channel your anger at the right people. F U E could really do with reading more books rather than ranting on here about a completely bogus "paper", Angelina Jolie, or describing anyone who voted for Sidiq Khan "can further deny their British heritage as they loath everything that Britain stands for, cnuts". I am the proud Grandson of 4 European immigrants who mostly came here with nothing. My grandad first went to Palace in the 50s, took my dad and my dad took me after all. If only that, I have immigration to thank for the joys of Crystal palace. I would not find myself on this thread without it.

I have no problem with this, provided that the jobs pay sufficiently provide the same security as welfare. Problem is, they don't. A minimum wage job in most of the SE won't even cover the housing benefit. So if you have a family taking any old McJob won't do, you'll be worse off. This isn't because benefits are too high, its because wages are so low (Benefits are linked to the cost of living, the minimum wage isn't). For many, the prospect of working is increased poverty, and that is unacceptable. Working should always provide a route out of impoverishment. It disgusts me that you'll have companies posting record profits, paying management bonuses and high salaries for shareholders, directors and managers, whilst the staff earn minimum wage.

Its a casual labour force, the principle is that most will be single, and capable of existing in cheap accommodation such as bed sits, shared housing etc. Often even where they have families, if they're in the home nation, the exchange rate is very favourable when you consider the cost of living in those countries. Also, they don't really have to worry if they lose their employment, they can go back and not worry about being tied into a twelve month lease. People who live in the UK can't compete unless their students, living at home, part time top up workers etc.

Why is everyone obsessed with low paid migrants? The evidence suggests their effect on wages on non-migrant workers is none / perhaps only very slightly downward for certain groups. Stop focussing your anger on the wrong people. Also, the cost of both migrants and non-migrants claiming benefits they don't need nor deserve is a far smaller than the cost the austerity has imposed upon our country. Moreover, the cost that tax avoiding companies and individuals put on our country far outstrips a few poor people claiming benefits. Direct your anger and fustrations in the right direction.
