The form gives two options of gender: male/female. Then there is a rider below. The parents got the letter not the children. The story in the Argos and the Mail totally misrepresent the letter by suggesting the question was directed to all four year old children rather than their parents and the choice of adding another gender from male of female was an exception. Offering the choice to parents of children to state whether their child is Male or Female and then adding a rider "Please support your child to choose the gender they most identify with. Or if they have another gender identity please leave this blank and discuss with your child's school" is different to asking children of four what their gender is as the headline suggests. I'd be embarrassed if I believed some of the stuff the papers reported and I'd be angry that they lied to me or misrepresented things to me in order to manipulate me into thinking their skewed picture of the world was true. My point is that the press cannot be trusted on anything but the sports scores.

Your link is to the Daily Mail, though, so it probably isn't true. Reading that paper and taking everything it says unquestionably as TRUTH suggest you have HGLCS (High Gullibility Low Credibility Syndrome) and you might want to get something for it. I suggest a library card, a wider reading list and a tattoo on your forehead saying "I MUST MAKE THE EFFORT TO QUESTION WHAT I READ". Just because you so so so want it to be true and have this in common with a dodgy/corrupt/useless tabloid content provider doesn't mean it is true. ps The Daily Mail has form, for example:
Actually Chris Jefferies didn't kil Joanna yeates

Sadly true of all publications/organisations (not just the mail). For evidence see the endless drivel I receive on Facebook from "Stronger in Europe" such as "see how much Brexit could cost you" followed by a list of all possible worst case scenarios, such as Merkel having a nervous breakdown and accidentally invading Bognor, and all those nice car manufacturers deciding they'd rather not do business with us nasty little Englanders (despite the fact it wrecks their business models to do so). See also every press release from every political party ever.

W@NKERS Did you mean to say... The Right wing press seem to have cornered the market in making up stories about the fictitious lunacy and bovine stupidity inherent in lefties. Not a day goes by without a right wing newspaper making up or misrepresenting a story of some new and exciting initiative that was never actually dreamt up by some loon in the grip of advanced mental illness but rather made up by a dodgy content provider (in the pocket of a ring wing tax dodging press baron who doesn't even live the country) and happily and unquestioningly accepted as true by a group of very gullible people. Now they're not actually trying to influence innocent young children into their way of thinking but the right wing press are as ever making up stories to influence the Society of Gullible Fools. Although this initiative never really existed it should be torn up and the lying content provider who wrote it should be never allowed to work as a content provider again...they found a WWII bomber on the moon you know. Well Mr Head, we know that the press of any political persuasion make stuff up to sell papers, but some left wing politicians do introduce stupid initiatives because they've got nothing better to do than interfere in other people's lives and try and indoctrinate them in their way of thinking. I won't say all left politicians are like that, but there are left wing zealots who are no better than right wing zealots in the pursuit of their left wing ideals and agenda. No smoke without fire.
