Thought the topic of the original post was Cilla Black you lot seemed to have strayed somewhat into the realms of who was what and what they are or might have been. RIP Cilla.

I didn't think Cilla came across as very nice in the dramatisation which she presumably approved and collaborated with. One should not judge form a TV program of course.

As for Cliff. Someone apparently ITK told me long ago that he was gay.
I have often suspected that in trying to conceal your sexual preferences you leave yourself open to more sinister allegations. A symptom of different times.

If Cliff came out as gay now, no one would care, but I suppose a few of the blue rinse brigade might stop buying his records.

Being gay would be the very least reason I could think off for not buying his records.

I always find it weird that its being a pedophile that ended Garry Glitter's career, rather than being utter sh*t.

Sorry chap but if you were between around 8 and 14 years old in the 70's, then Glitter, Sweet and Slade were Glam gods.
The likes of Bowie and Bolan were for the older kids back then.

I still listen to that stuff now and a lot of it it still sounds good.
Glitter f""""d himself by being a pervert, Brian Connolly killed himself drinking but the music still brings back fond memories of my childhood and TOTP.

Just before my time, I was 8 in 1979. I get the love of Bowie and Bolan (maybe even Slade), but the Glitter and the Sweet I struggle with seeing as anything other than hangers on to that scene.

I think that is a revisionist view. Without doubt Bowie and Bolan were the early runners in the Glam era but I'm pretty sure that Glitter and Slade and to a lesser extent Sweet, sold a lot more singles.
Bolan had a few hits back then but Bowie struggled to sell copy in the early days.
The kids who bought all the singles were not into the so called more sophisticated stuff,

Apparently, that was the year of Judge's 439th birthday.

She was a mate of Macca, come on.

God knows what it will be like when he snuffs it.
Liverpool will launch into a 50 year mawkish extravaganza of mysery.
Funny since he moved a way years ago like anyone sensible.

Apparently her husband encouraged or coached her to act like a "star" which runs counter productive to the " our Cilla " image.

I must say that I am surprised that she is being interred with her parents ---What must Bobby be thinking ?

She is Roman catholic so would not go for cremation presumably. Maybe Bobby's ashes are already buried there too.
