I would be happy with Potter or Cooper. Both great with a stable squad and agreed plan with the board on how to progress, both screwed this season by insane owners buying entirely new squads and expecting them to instantly work. As a wildcard, Fabian Hürzeler, 10 games in professional management and 10 wins, taking St Pauli from a relegation fight to outsiders for automatic promotion. Might be too early but signs are he's going to be one hell of a manager. As a St Pauli fan, If he gets them to Bundesliga 1 he will be in demand, the German Ian Dowie perhaps?

St. Pauli has an amazing fan base, rabid lot, nothing less than 100 percent - that part of Hamburg is just like South London and their noise might just go beyond our Homesdale Fanatics in terms of decibels! Originally posted by Na hEireann Iolar

Our DNA as you call it revolves around more recent years growth of the club , our players and their style, supported by the recognition and exposure of our hardcore Ultras being accepted and fully supported by the rest of the stadium, creating a furnace of home and away support. What Roy has done is tidied us up and let these super talents shine. Guehi and Anderson got a hold of things when we were on the ropes after 20 minutes. They pulled them all together and started the frightening fight back. All you posters on here who were telling Roy how to do this or that (which he didn't do) like get Ayew off or Schluppie off or whatever, showed why you have never been managers of a premier club or England unlike Roy and why you should definitely stay as just fans!. In two games Roy has put us back on course with some of the most exciting players ever in our DNA chain and Palace shirts, and excitingly loads more emerging at the academy. With Lewington and McCarthy in his team Roy is shaping the club for the future already. Not hard when you have his skills. As I already said, ex England. He didn't get that post for nothing. We all owe Roy the hugest respect and Im sure we all hope he pulls it off to keep us up, which is now looking highly likely. If things go well I hope Parish sees sense in using Roy further and his evident understanding of our 'DNA' to help shape the future. Don't lose sight of who saw the need to bring Roy back and acted decisively to do it. I don't think many of us were sure at all. So hats off to Parish.

Yes if we keep up the run of results i see no reason for Roy not to be manager next year.

Two wins in two games under Mr Hodgson and the portents are encouraging but there are more games still to be played and we could get into 'Pitchy seas' as the season unfolds. Of course that might be a reaction to the way we're playing and the fact he's missed being involved for a while.

I personally would love to see Rodgers at Palace. Young but plenty of experience. I just think it could really be a good match. I see a bit of what we had under Steve Coppell with him. He was paid 10 million a year at Leicester though so not sure he’s within our budget. Rogers or Postecoglu from Celtic.

Rogers or Postecoglu from Celtic. Neither of whom, I suspect, would be remotely interested in taking up the reins at our club.

Edited by Willo (10 Apr 2023 9.28am) Whether Roy can or would continue to have us playing football like the second-half yesterday if he stays in charge is one thing, whether he has the energy for a whole season is another. He clearly is not the long-term answer, so then the question is whether we have a long-term answer in mind? Or do we even need one given the MO of most clubs now is to keep a manager while they're hot and ditch them when you hit a bad run. I have no issue with Roy's age if he passes an MOT, but in the last few years when things haven't been going well he has looked a bit lost and tired and the football has reflected that. We saw it in his final season with us and it showed up again at Watford. I have no desire to see Royball return, but if the new and improved Royball V2 were to stick around of course I'd be happy; who wouldn't?

If the positive results continue and the players continue to respond positively to the methods of Hodgson and Lewington I suspect there may well be a growing clamour for them to continue next season. However, I do see one potential complication going forward. Some will say the easy solution would be to keep Hodgson, Lewington and McCarthy at the helm next season , but this could be perceived as a cop out and reluctance to make the necessary long term decisions for the club’s future.

A perfect start for Mr Hodgson in terms of results and team performances, accordingly I can understand the arguments for retaining his services, however there are 8 games remaining and I shall reserve judgement until later.
