If we do stay up, I think Potter will be the man.

What he achieved with the Seagulls was remarkable and if he wanted a Selhurst move, I could see him being welcomed aboard this summer.

But early, please: no faffing around, Mr Parish.

Twice Parish has attempted a playing reset and both times he’s pulled the plug ( De Boer and Vieira ).

Quite where he goes from post Roy I don’t know.

Promoting Paddy suggests that he’s opening up a career path for him and that the next manager would be expected to work with McCarthy. That would enable a fresh approach but also have someone that is more in tune with Palace’s DNA.

Surely it wasn't the playing reset that was the problem but who Parish selected to do it.

How often has promoting a club junior to become Manager in the modern day Premier League actually worked out as I seem to recall them all ending in tears.

I see quite a few mentions of Palace's DNA but I'm not sure what people mean

Leicester were 11th after 28 games when Rodgers took up the 'Reins' and they finished the season in 9th place.
They finished 5th in the following 2 seasons and 8th last season.
The Vardy goals have dried up, Tielemans has not been at his best and Maddison has had his injury problems this season. The central defensive partnership of Evans and Soyuncu have played far fewer games than in recent seasons.

I think that rather makes the point that Rodgers, is a competent manager ,coach. Leicester were going backwards he kept them top ten, and European competition. .
As for the eigth place last season, Klopp might have that on his CV come the end of season ,what does that say about his management skills,? Not getting at you Willo, but a serious question in the all round

One hears about our 'DNA' and 'Identity' etc etc, however I have not formulated in my mind what this specifically means when applied to the club.

Klopp has asserted that he is only Liverpool manager at present because of past glories. As per Leicester he has players who have not performed as before, due to the advancement of age, injuries etc etc, and a significant re-building job is required at the end of the season.

Apropos Rodgers, he has managed both Liverpool and Celtic, he has guided Leicester to 2 top 5 finishes.Does one really think he would be remotely interested in taking up the cudgel at our club ?

Well you’re asking another question there the answer has to be ,who knows, One way or the other ,it doesn’t alter whether he was worthy of the post. It seems we can both see he can’t be a bad manager /coach.

My point being that whoever you apportion the blame, it hasn’t worked.

I’m certainly not suggesting that Paddy is ready for the top coaching / manager job, but I am speculating that he could be Assistant Manager post Roy.

As for the DNA piece, well I’ve always associated the club with being ‘ underdog, gate crashers ‘ types not just Fancy Dans. We’ve become too nice to play against.

Re Rodgers, Celtic and Liverpool were huge clubs. But in the distant past for him.

I don’t think any of the big clubs, and I’m talking top 6, are going to be interested in him. And I doubt if he views the funding potential at Palace to be of interest. Shame because I think he could be a good fit .

They've sold players for £50+m repeatedly, without replacement. Last season they only signed Faes at CB and a backup keeper. Bare in mind they let Fofana leave for £75m. Maddison will leave this summer, and they'll have no star names left.

Like us, they seem to have zero money. You could tell Rogers was desperate to be sacked before the world cup, but the speculation at the time was that they couldn't afford to pay him off. I don't understand how a club like Leicester have no money. Where does the tens of millions of pounds go?]

Rebecca Vardy?

Potter has turned down Leicester job. Waiting to decide in the Summer.
Next Palace manager, eh?
He is better with a smaller squad.
Spoilt for choice at Chelsea.
Now let's go and win 3 games!
Hopefully we can then beat the Seagulls!!!

Punching above weight against the odds?

Vociferous local support with zero media attention?

Bullish defence, little possession, rapid counter through lightning quick wings?

Last on MOTD?
