The media are saying labour need to move central to win more votes. The media would love labour to get even more Tory lite.

I'd love labour to move left. People will be (even more) sick of cuts and poverty in 5 years.

The most successful party fought an anti austerity campaign and nearly swept the boards. I wonder why?

Could it be something to do with Scottish Nationalism? Perhaps they should rename themselves National Socialist?

Interestingly the SNP have been right and left wing in their time.

The question of Scottish devolution didn't form part of their manifesto.

Many who voted no in the referendum voted SNP.

The SNP weren't the most successful party in terms of seats or share of vote.

They were 3rd in number of seats and 6th in vote share!

Tbf it would have been quite difficult for them to have done much better.

Of course Hoof is being facetious. He knows that to gain 55 or whatever seats when contesting around 60 seats is by far the most successful showing by any party.

Would have been a helluvalot higher if they had stood in all 631 constituencies like the rest of them.

You are seriously implying that the SNP does not want independence for Scotland? That other National Socialist party didn't have "we intend to invade Poland at the first opportunity" in their 1933 manifesto either.

I don't see Cameron as a Thatcherite, his views on climate change and marriage equality alone are things the iron lady would never go for. She would probably see him as a wet. I say this keeping in mind that political trends can't be transferred from one country to the next. If Cameron were in the USA, he'd probably be a centrist Democrat rather than a Republican. They are way too far right for him.

That's true, but views can't really be transferred from one time period to another either.

Interracial marriage used to be viewed differently too. As for climate change the data available far outweighs what it did in the past. A Thatcher of today wouldn't succeed by taking 80's views wholesale and putting them before society.

I agree with your comments on the US. Constantly playing up to the religious vote alone is a dynamic that doesn't really exist in UK politics.

Lolz.......how old are you,and a teacher as well.
You know that is not what he was saying, he means that if you think the SNP are not after independence then you must be off your head.
And you make all sorts of comparisons between the tories/UKIP and the Nazis.

But because it's you and your leftie mates doing it it's ok.
And you wonder why the British public don't trust the left.

I'm trying to work out how the invasion of Poland alludes to Scotland's situation.

Does Murdoch want Scottish independence? He was right behind the SNP in Scotland.
