He must be really unlucky to pick that particular space around the very few who disagree with him. Or 100 ft away around some others would get the same result. I think that could be the case.

Against the board in America, 65 percent of voters want a ceasefire. It's a majority in every demographic but If you include just Democrat voters that rises to 80 percent. The fact that the Democrats don't support a ceasefire speaks wonders to the myth that democracy is about giving your population a voice. In truth the real reality is that democracies in the west give their people about as much of a voice in what actually happens as does Putin's Russia. As a foreign country Israel have far too much power in the American political process. America are unable to be an honest broker in dealing with this conflict and it's incredibly damaging to world affairs.

And obviously that 10 seconds of footage is the only time he was filming all day - I'm sure he hasn't selectively cut that to demonstrate a point. I think what's much more likely the case is that he spent most of the day at the protest with his sign, and the 10 seconds that made it to twitter is all he's decided to show.

However, democracy remains a largely patrician form of governance. Your views are limited to choosing the people who decide. The difference with Putin is he effectivly cannot be replaced. And where that occurs, accountability is non existent and corruption is all.

I wasn't trying to say it was exactly the same.....just that it's not far off. For example, if we look at the Tories and Labour in England.....Both these parties are neo and social liberals. Their policies in most areas aren't that different from each other and in reality this is the same for most democracies. Elective rules make it difficult for new parties to differ.....For example you are forced to sign up to equality law and various other laws that frankly have been here less than a generation and shouldn't have anything to do with whether you can stand for election. Yep, I like slagging off anybody and everybody depending upon how I wake up in the morning. I really don't like how my nation went from 'say what you think' to 'think about what you say'. No thanks, I'm not Jewish or an Arab but if I'm allowed to react in disgust to Hamas killing any Jew they can get hold of (that they weren't taking as a hostage)....then I can also react in disgust at children and other civilians being smashed to bits in bombings. There weren’t many signs similar to that though so maybe most don’t think they’re terrorists.

Meanwhile protesters have climbed onto the Scottish Parliament building demanding that there is a halt to supplying weapons to Israel. Not sure what trade there is between Scotland and Israel but apparently it’s not just whisky and Argyle knitwear…it’s amazing what facts you can learn from protestors.
hats off to palace, they were always gonna be louder, and hate to say it but they were impressive ALL bouncing and singing. |
