Out of rogers and Potter I'd definitely take rogers, more experience, potter looked completely in over his head at Chelsea, clueless with bizarre team selections. I thought rogers handled managing a big club like Liverpool pretty well. Done a great job at Swansea, great job at Leicester and celtic. Potter done okay at Brighton but how much of that was down to their scouting system ? Plus de zerbi has came in and done an even better job with the same players.

I am certainly not expecting to see Benitez at our club.

Focus on our remaining games.

Sit very tight with Roy. Focus on getting right behind him and the team just like we did on Saturday.

Right now, Im wishing Roy was 20 years younger. He is such a good fit for the Palace.

Maybe if Parish wanted, he could give Roy a season extension to oversee the summer window where there will be lots of comings and goings, including Wilf probably? Roy has great experience and knows Palace so well...

I'm reasonably well disposed to Roy but a full season - No. Loved it Saturday. He's turned a number of players round eg Doucoure and Mitchell to some degree but we have to plan sensibly for next year.
Why not ask Roy who he admires most of a younger generation. As long as doesn't say Potter or Rodgers I'll listen.
This is going to be a really difficult call. I am seriously struggling to think of anyone suitable for our club. Roy's appointment however has given Dougie time to do his job. Sticking with Roy would just be kicking the can down the road.

I am a bit aghast about the press talk of getting Mr Cooper from Forest.

I am sure his coaching skills are better than his media persona.

Personally I wouldn't object to Rodgers or Potter but there is plenty of time to get this sorted and I am sure there are others 'beneath the radar' that would be suitable.

Of course the win and performance on Saturday has created a mood of positivity and optimism, however if we revert to type in the next few matches and results go against us,Mr Hodgson will be viewed in a different light.

Irrespective of our fate, I certainly do not envisage him being at the helm next season.

My 2 concerns about having Roy next season -
a) Age obviously
b) He is too easily manageable by the board, by that I mean that if they say there is no money for new players he will accept it & get on with doing the job as best he can, if that happens we will eventually end up back where we were 2 seasons ago - in terms of the oldest squad in the league - (whichever League that happened to be in)

I had the same pessimistic, knee-jerk reaction as many did when Roy was announced however I wouldn't be against this if things play out as they may do hypothetically:

Roy was always utilised as he did/would not spit a dummy out of the pram apropos lack of investment in team and was able to keep us afloat in doing so. That translates for many as him being a boring, uninspired manager however as noted with Fulham he can operate differently when he doesn't need a 8/9/10 man block just to stop the goals flowing in due to lack of options and talent.

Team looks a lot better on paper now, we need to invest and hopefully will do so effectively with players out of contract and just not good enough in some areas. Hopefully the Americans will see to that as they purportedly wanted to before Parish put brakes on and in light of a worrying three months this season.

A better looking squad needing the yes grandfatherly but nonetheless well experienced and equally skilled Hodgson drilling and moulding them into an effective unit could well be within the realms of possibility so whilst perhaps fanciful not complete rubbish to entertain.

In a recent conversation concerning Mr Hodgson some gentleman said to me that Bert Head was in his 70s when he left our club, but I respectfully informed him that Head was in his late 50s when Malcolm Allison was appointed as his successor.

Yes I agree on both points and would offer the following only as possibilities that would factor into a positive stance on Roy for another season:

a) Age - If he's got it in him, he's got it in him.

b) Finances - My suspicion is that the Americans will look to spend. We will also have to given Wilf's impending departure and several out of contract or past their 'usefulness date'. Also, if we don't have Roy I fear the alternative scenario is far worse with having a manager where we see a repeat of PV: no investment in squad, resentment and therefore ambivalence/disinterest kicking in. Very conscious Roy's employment could well lead to a less pressing inclination to splash any cash however and I think that is what you are alluding to so again agree that could be a detrimental side effect.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

There could of course be a different ownership structure.
