Disappointing, Andros is a fine player, regular starter

Can't see any replacement really.

Athletic reporting Ward has signed new deal.

Absolute joke to let Andros go. Always gives his all and is the only person in the entire squad that can hit a ball on target from outside the box.

With Eze injured, surely Andros is a great option either on the wing or try him at attacking midfield or striker before disposing of him.

Yes if we go and sign 2 exciting wingers and strikers he’s not needed anymore at his age but this is Palace, we aren’t replacing him properly are we.

disagree - lovely cross for Benteke at the Amex, but the quality is very sporadic, he's OK as a wing back cos he tracks back, but offensively he's a bit predictable, has too many indifferent games, and he aint getting any better at his age, decline will set in soon if it hasn't already, I'm sure we'll get back up, but we can't hold on to dead wood (an overly brutal phrase admittedly) and the more past-it players we strike off the books the better.

Andros at his best was a fantastic player for us, it will be a shame if he isn't offered and extension (or if he's offered one and thinks he can get a better deal elsewhere).

He was at his best when overlapping with AWB, a fantastic (if short lived) partnership.

Good luck to him, I'm sure HoL will report every goal he scores wherever that is!

I think he's hoping that Newcastle will offer him a deal, we may still sign him if he doesn't get the offer he wants.

Townsend, was very poor at times early in the last season, and if that was now his best ,then it would have been a no brainier to not retain him. As it turned out in the last ten or so games his form and his commitment came back on track, Not spectacular but he was having a much more positive effect games. For the club ,to retain him they needed to see value for money, I wouldn’t be surprised if they made him an offer , that didn’t come up to the amount of value originally put on him, and he will try for more else where. The club will look to pay less for as much or more output from a younger set of legs.

The first thing to go will be his legs,it is far better to sign a youngster who is out to impress than retain a fading older player.

Haven't seem any sign of his legs going, the one thing you could be sure of when he came off the bench was that he would be running around like a blue ar**d fly making himself available for forward passes or tracking back putting the opposition under pressure. I am sure he would be able to adapt to any changes PV wants.

I for one will be sorry if he isn't re-signed.

It would not surprise me if the club has offered him a deal that doesn't meet his demands and have made it clear that's their final offer and he's looking for a better deal elsewhere. From our standpoint, both Banks and Rak-Sakyi must be close to knocking on the door for the wide AM position if we don't bring someone new in.

Having said all that I would be happy to see Andros stay at the right price.

For much of his time here Townsend has underperformed in my opinion, or he simply isn't actually as good as it seemed he might be back when he played well for England once or twice. He finished last season well, but was never an adequate replacement for Bolasie. The lack of threat Townsend offered just added to the weight on Wilf, and the apparent absence over the last six months of better offers for the player to consider is telling.

That said, I remain firmly of the view that the club should retain out of contract players, even if only as squad players, unless they are certain they can be replaced with an improvement so I'm a little surprised at this turn of events.

Perhaps we feel we will be buying a new winger in addition to Olise. Perhaps we feel Rak-Sakyi really is good enough already to contribute.

One thing seems clear - Townsend has cited guarantees about playing time as a big consideration for him when he decides on his next contract, suggesting he wants to be somewhere where he is first choice in his position. If he was first choice in his position for Palace, he'd have been offered a contract by now, surely?

whilst i would definitely offer him a new contract, especially with the Eze injury and who knows re Zaha, saying he can hit the target from outside the box is a strange comment.

In the 5 years he's been with us his shooting has been erratic at best. A couple of belters (Burnley at home and of course Man City volley) but other than that i'm struggling to think of a goal from outside the box.

His overall goalscoring record has been pretty average at best - 13 goals in 5 seasons - so i think it's fair to say that shooting is not his strongest attribute.
