I feel a lot of people do not understand the reality of how transfers are done. It's not football manager. It's very unlikely Hodgeson made any signings. At best these days the manager provides a list of profiles of players he would like and then the club scouts and tries to sign a player who fits that profile. I'll bet any manager only gets a fraction of the players they feel they need. Likewise even once signed the player may fit the profile the manager asks for but due to finances may not be the quality he needs to fit into his team.

As for Sorloth and Wickham, I'm sorry but its a case of 20-20 hindsight. The vast majority of fans felt it was good moves for both of them. We had Tosun as cover Sorloth had just not hot going with us so needed to go somewhere to have a fresh start and Wickham was coming back from injury and needed to get some games under his belt to regain fitness.

I think a lot of people misunderstand the role of the manager. It's to take responsibility.

The buck stops with him.

The argument of the pro-Hodgson brigade appears to be 'He guarantees PL survival'. I just dont think that's the case.

The way we are riding our luck each season. One of these days we'll go down. Probably next season with RH in charge.

Apart from the boring football and lack of willingness to just try anything different, the main thing that has put me off Hodgson this season is his complete lack of fight for us. Imagine any of our last few managers, Allardyce, Pulis etc. having been on the receiving end of those two ridiculous VAR decisions. They’d have been elbow dropping the FA off the top rope whilst holding the ref hostage in the changing room. Hodgson just sits back in his chair fumbling around for his werthers originals.

It’s all very well losing admirably to Chelsea and Utd but when we just look average against your villas and Burnley’s etc there is something clearly very wrong.

So are you saying Mourinho, Klopp and Guardiola are not involved in club transfers. Sorry, I’m not buying into that.

All big name managers who only go to top clubs with plenty of financial clout. Big clubs have more capacity to be able to take more risks with transfers due to their stature and revenue. We are not in their league (well we are but figuratively speaking). Of course there are exceptions to any rule, and even in our case I think Hodgeson had a say in the likes of Cahill and Kouyate and possibly the permanent signing of Ayew. McCarthy possibly.

That's ok, you have no idea about football management either, so no sleep lost.

I don’t believe that Hodgson’s critics have a problem with the position in the table or are expecting us to push for Europe.
The issue relates more to defensive style of play , rigid tactics,, lack of quality from set pieces and reluctance to make changes in particular when we fall behind in games.
To those who say Hodgson hasn’t got the tools at his disposal I would point to the Chelsea game and the game last night.
We showed good attacking intent in those games when Hodgson demonstrated that he can release the shackles and change the formation.
If we play that way in the future arguably many may have less of a problem with Hodgson.

So how on earth does Mr Hodgson cause the delivery to be so?

..and you actually do think Mr Hodgson decides games and how we will and will not cock the play up

I always blame the players, usually it's only one or two of them that miss chances at given times or make costly mistakes and I never never blame the manager, the poor bugger has to watch the pain along with us, why would he advise them to cock the play up, why?

With the situation Palace have regarding squad size and ability levels, it’s time to get off Roy’s back. Get him some quality players and then judge him. It’s obvious this lot have gone their distance, that’s not Roy’s fault. He has got more out of them than he was entitled to do.
The club has a big problem going foreword player wise. Roy doesn’t control that ,. So why think it all gets solved the moment he goes?

Mr Hodgson has taken the responsibility of keeping our team in this league.

No idea why you moan so.
