No club, after 7/8 season's in the prem, with like the 10th highest wage bill in Europe, be happy just to survive. That mentality is ridiculous. No supporter, in their right mind should be happy with the club to continue making transfer mistakes, racking up debt, selling youth off to reduce the bills. No supporter would enjoy tactics where the same players are getting fatigue, making mistakes - youth being ignored and the squad not being rotated, even when nothing to play for. Supporters, naturally, should worry that their squad is the oldest in the league with no real infrastructure in place, albeit youth academy or a scouting network to replace, let alone cash. Also, supporters, naturally should be wondering why there is no money to invest - as above. So whilst many of us where there, alongside you that May - we were watching youth players Morrison, Mullins, Thomson, Carlisle, Evans. With work horse/Fan favs Riihilahti, Freedman and Austin. We saw a team playing for the badge... playing for the fans.. MASSIVE DIFFERENCE Good post. I think it is fair to say a number of our ageing squad have reached the peak in terms of personal achievement within the sport, particularly in earnings whereby the Palace gravy train has been very kind to them, more so when compared to value for money performance. Hodgson has been discussed enough so I don't think there is any more to add. Regarding money it is said that during our time in the Prem 1 billion has passed through the till, as you mention one does have to wonder how there is no money to invest and we are reliant on cheapo cast offs and loans. I must add at this point why did we purchase Kouyate and McCarthy? Neither player was necessary given their particular skill set and even more so when other areas needed (and still need) urgent attention.

Palace are a mediocre mid table Premier club and that is the reality of the zenith of what can be achieved with the current finances.

For the statisticians out there. One has to look at the context of the defeats. Those who wish to see the removal of Hodgson for the start of next season are going to be disappointed. Edited by Willo (19 Jul 2020 11.04am)

I think Hodgson will be manager at the beginning of the season too, but was merely posing the question.

Completely agree with you. There's been no progress, our playing style is awful and, worst of all, in recent weeks no passion. The age of the squad is a massive concern and as it goes up yet another year we'll just get slower and more injury prine. Serious investment needed which obviously won't come. Look how Hull City have fallen from grace. Up here the owners have not invested in players, sold the decent ones. Increased prices etc, sound all to familiar.

For every Hull City or Charlton you can point to a Sheffield United or Burnley as positive examples.

This season, Hull spent around £3.5 Mill on players and brought in £20 Mill, including the sales of Bowen and Grosicki. Last season, Hull spent nigh on £2 Mill but brought in no money from sales with the likes of Dawson, Hernandez and Meyler all leaving on 'Frees'.

The Allan's have destroyed the club, I have no affiliation with Hull whatsoever. However those who work and support the club will tell you it's a sinking shop. I work with chair of the fans forum. They want in access of 38 Mill, also 12 million for the ground management. They have alienated most if not all of their fan base with shocking decisions. We will see more clubs going this way. For us fans the team is everything, for business owners it is not always the same. Parish is a fan, but I feel he is more of a business man and that will always come first. He has spent lots of his money only right he'll want to see a return on it eventually. Fingers crossed we ger some proper investment before we go down and continue to fall. Just my opinion, don't really need any response or counter opinion. Too many getting at each other on here. Accept that people may have differences of opinions.
