Watched highlights of the playoff final Jules fantastic palm away from Deeny and the header off the line in the last minute from Joel Ward great day 7 years later we are still in the premier still have to pinch myself.

Marvellous day.

In terms of the PL, I suspect not many would have had a wager after the game that we would spend the next 7 seasons in the PL !

In the semi-final of the play-offs that season we defeated Brighton 2-0 on aggegate! We only won 1 of our last 10 games leading up to the semi-final and one of those games was a 3-0 defeat at Brighton.

He WAS top scorer in the season he had with us but we were relegated that season well adrift of the team just above the line - which was Brighton !

I don’t think he hit double figures though and there was a few penalties. The best goal he scored for us didn’t count!!

Brighton put the final nail in our coffin at Selhurst over Easter, by then we had Tommy Langley up front, now he WAS feckin useless

Yes, you're right about yogi. That goal was against Sheffield United.

Don't think I've ever seen a ball hit harder. It was runner up in goal of the season (Grandstand??) it would have won but for the winner being a Yeovil effort, giant killing in the cup.

That was quite a day. Real 80s football. I was only young - one of my first matches. I guess it's not entirely Allen's fault that he was rubbish for us. Dodgy deals galore. My biggest gripe was losing Sansom.

I think we all knew straight away it was going to be the beginning of the end, as when Wrighty left in 91

I think the Yeovil goal was a long range screamer to beat Newcastle? - I can remember the goal but not the opponents.

Right about Newcastle but I was wrong about Yeovil - it was Hereford Utd and the scorer was Ronnie Radford.

At the end of that season 1971-72, non-league Hereford who hadn't even won their league were voted into the Football League at the expense of Barrow who dropped into the Northern Premier League.
No automatic promotion and relegation in those days! I believe this changed in 1986.

teams who finished 92nd had to 'seek re-election' to the football league - so they weren't necessarily replaced with the non-league champions!?! ... Hereford replaced Barrow in 72, Wimbledon replaced Workingron in 77 and Wigan replaced Southport in 78 - don't think there were any more changes till it went automatic - we had to 'apply' three times back in our div 3 south days.

I lived in the Midlands and watched loads of Kidderminster Harriers games. Harriers won the conference but didn't go up as their ground was not deemed up to scratch. They also had a cup run to the fifth round, knocking out Birmingham along the way. Think they eventually lost 1-0 West Ham in a replay. Goalie error on windy day.

I recall Jan Molby being manager of the club.
Current Tranmere manager Micky Mellon was a Kidderminster player.

Never liked QPR to this day because of that match joins Watford and Brighton of teams I particularly dislike!! COYP
