I am not so sure Pearson would be at the top of Jimmy Mac’s list.

to be fair to him, he had a great record prior to coming to the PL. Hull was good initially, then a dodgy 2nd season, Watford, was really good until he got his head turned by Everton, and then abject Failure at everton..as many have been. all in all, not so sure he can be branded a total failure off the back of all that. He only did half a season at Hull. The crap half.

Dougie probably, Houghton possibly and Bowyer could be worth a punt.

My Wife is now asking about what should Palace look for when appointing a new manager. Any help will be appreciated. So far we have covered Wilf being our next manager - he will no longer get kicked around the pitch, and I have said that I see three things to attract a new manager (other that the usual new manager bounce), which are:-

He didn't have a 2nd season at hull. Half a season, initial success until he was found out and his side was easy to beat. Hull’s results at the very end of that season tailed off because of injuries. They had about 4 out vs Palace, including 2 key players whereas we had a full strength team available for our usual desperate late season survival campaign. Where Silva possibly failed at Hull was Sunderland at home I think the week before Palace. Hull were 1-0 up and then conceded 2 late counter attacking goals with Defoe in the Sunderland team. Not as many as 4 in 20 minutes in a first half at Selhurst mind you but Silva should have protected that 1-0 lead perhaps. Hull’s results up to that point were pretty impressive, taking them from dead and buried to almost safe but then not quite, due to injuries and possibly not shutting up shop vs Sunderland at 1-0 up. Weren’t Sunderland already relegated vs Hull without much of a care if the opposition sat back and defended for their lives at 1-0? The posts above are just guesses of the past. Now I agree that Everton has been a failure, and he could have solved it with good defensive coaches, ultimately his responsibility, but saying Hull and/or Watford was abysmal very wide of the mark, because it’s pure guessing of history. (i.e. about half of Wan Bisakka's value) I wouldn't even know how to start putting a value on the club these days but obviously, stadium capacity, contract values and wages have to be taken into account.
