Stripey Nigels at its best.

This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise.

Think that must be one of the best turnarounds anyone's ever managed in this league. SA, AP and RH all did great jobs turning around sinking ships for us but Pulis was the most impressive. As well as no Wilf we had no Murray for most of that season.

When Pulis joined us after 12 games we were 19th and had only attained 7 points.
We finished the season in 11th place on 45 points.

0 points from 4 games, then lost his first three and finished with 44 points from 38. That was also a great achievement.

I'm grateful to Pulis for keeping us up but I never liked him. Now we know more it is clear all he cared about was his bonus and the same could probably be said for Allardyce. Pardew and Roy both seem to have an affection for the club, although despite his failures in the top flight it is probably still Warnock who has shown the most affection and respect for our club, at least publicly. I think Klopp is a bit of an arrogant pr*ck who can only be nice and respectful when Liverpool win (Athletico defeat a recent example of him being a bad loser) but I would still love to have someone come in who is a bit more of a fist-pumping manager once Roy calls time.

Going back to the subject of points I think one more win and a couple of draws should be enough and if we get them quickly I think we'll relax a bit and the team will finish like they did last season and we'll all ask why we can't play like that normally!

Completely agree on all your points. Pulis is a **** but you have to respect what he achieved. Completely agree on Warnock. I liked him a lot. Particularly, first time around he really did energize the club after the misery of Peter Taylor. He was also a nice guy. He used to always stop and chat when he walked through the Players' Lounge before and after games.

On the points, completely agree. 38 will keep us up. I see no reason why we can't get 48.

If Tosun and Andros stay fit along with the other forward players then this seems potentially achievable. Surely one of them has to start scoring?

I wonder if Brighton will keep Murray and Maupay up top against us and I bet if Murray plays he'll cause us huge problems, Pardew should be severely punished for not playing him lol I'd drag him onto our pitch at half time and flog him, criminal it was and I remember the two games against West Ham and Arsenal at home where he came on as a sub and caused mayhem and still stupid pardew refused to use him ...as you can see I cannot get over it lol.

Being fit doesn’t seem to make much difference at the moment. I find it unlikely that either Andros or Cenk will start a game until either Benteke or Ayew is injured. I’m not knocking Ayew because he is playing great but in my opinion Roy needs to find a system where both Ayew and Townsend fit into the starting 11. We look so much more balanced as a team when Townsend plays. I would also pick Tosun over Benteke all day long but just can’t see it happening.

I agree about Townsend making the team more balanced, plus he gets crosses in which is not really Ayew's thing. In fairness to Bentenke, his work outside the box has been a lot better of late and he's looking quite quick (when he wants to be) but personally I would play a front three of Wilf-Ayew-Townsend and if Jordan doesn't take his chances then we have Tosun and Benteke as options from the bench. Ayew has certainly earned his place in the first XI and works incredibly hard.
