The press are the least of the problem. Labour party members failing to recognise how out of touch they are is the problem. They are battling against the tide of political change. They want the labout party of the 70's in 2016 and Corbyn is putting his dinosaur ideologies and political ambition before his party and majority public opinion. He is just another self serving politician after all. Except of course, he was elected leader by a clear majority of those people eligible to vote. It doesn't matter if its dinosaur ideas - He was the chosen leader by the system in place. And of course on the subject of a referendum he was a lot closer than the Conservative Party leader was (around 35-40% of the Leave vote came from Labour voters). Had he come out for an exit, the PLP would have been out for him with knives to the back. Despite the fact their last selection was a stirring failure. Tom Watson, Hillary Benn, might as well say Tony Blair.. And lets face it, most of them probably voted remain and campaigned on a remain as well. Whilst I don't necessarily agree that Corbyn should continue by default, its basically a coup by the parts of the labour party that are 'business as usual'.

In simple terms, Labour is lurching to the left while the country is moving to the right. Corbyn might well have good support among party members but that will not help him win an election. True, labour can appeal to the Remain camp but they have a lot of policy contradictions to deal with with with regard the main issues.

I think we will need one, to answer the "what will Brexit look like?" Question. The candidates can then put forth their views and the public decide their candidate based (in part at least) on that. The winner will then have a mandate to follow that post-Brexit route. Either that, or a second referendum (no not a re-run of the in/out one, we have to respect that) which offers maybe 3 alternatives for the public to decide on. e.g. EEA membership (like Norway), a "Swiss" model, or other. Arguably, this should have been done before the in/out decision. The UK looks pretty amateurish right now, sitting there with no post-Brexit plan.

Absolutely no way would I call a General Election if I was the new Tory leader. I would take over as PM, and carry out the will of the people but appointing a cross party committee of MP's also containing Farage and someone like James Dyson and/or Sugar/Bryson. Take command sort out the mess short term and wait for the EU to implode - which it surely will and then negotiate fair and lasting reciprocal trade deals with the ex EU nations who want to trade with us anyway but are stupidly toeing the EU line right now. Lets hope the new PM (Boris or Fox for me please) see it as I do. Oh and one final thing, tell Sturgeon and the SNP dissenters if they don't like Brexit they can have Independence for Scotland without the need for a 2nd referendum. Fcuk off now, here's some cash to help you set up ... don't come back crying in a few years time when it's all gone t1ts up though..... Bye.... X

I'm sure it's been said, but the whole hypocrisy of going out of the EU because it's undemocratic and then having an unelected leader would send a message that we are a shambles of a country.

You haven't got a long memory then? Brown carried on as PM when Bliar retired without going to the polls. Brown did send a message that we were a shambles of a country though - you were right about that.... the shambles was his policy making.... totally shambolic.... and ended in tears.

Or undermining democracy and demanding another referendum over the exit from an undemocratic political union. I suppose we shouldn't be surprised. Apparently the new way to debate amongst the young and in some uni debates is to shout down the other side or the minority.

Any new PM should be subject to an election IMO and each party should campaign on what type of Brexit they'd be looking for. I take the opposite view to Cucking though. If any party (particularly Labour) say that an absolute necessity of their renegotiation is a control of some sort on immigration, then they would win the election unless everyone else said it, too. They would be extremely foolish to not promise this, because they would then make UKIP even stronger, they'd take all the old Labour areas from the North for a start and probably a lot of Essex, Cornwall and Kent.

And plenty said he was being anti-democractic by doing exactly that. Even though it was exactly what Major had done before him as well (another shambles there).

No, maybe that's why people felt it was not democratic. You don't vote for PM, party leader etc at a General election. You vote for your MP.
