Going back to the best rather than the ones perved over, the best has to be Peter Clements, the headmaster at WInterbourne Boys back in the 70's. Absolute gent of a man, knew every pupil by name and even looking back now, took an active interest in how his school ran, how the staff were and how his pupils suceeded.
