You lot don't know how fortunate you were to be born in an affluent, stable, peaceful western country do you?
OK, well maybe the last one. Those in Calais are more likely to be economic migrants though surely Danno ? If your main concern was not getting bum raped in some god forsaken sub Saharan shytehole then whether you landed in France, Italy, even Bristol your first thought would not be to slog half way across Europe and put your life in your hands racing the Eurostar down the tunnel.

I think the lady doth protest to much. ohhh, get you! Speaking of logic you have offered nothing in the way of logical debate, your boring lefty tirades are just baseless nonsense made from Mirror and Guardian headlines, which when argued logically against, normally end up with you being a sarky prat because you have no actual answer for the questions asked of you. Well, if logic is on the menu then i suggest you start by addressing your ramblings, amusing as they are, at the right person. No tirades, and never read either the mirror or the guardian as they are both full of rubbish. Still, as your posts make clear, you don't place a very high importance on facts, truth or logic. Keep digging!

I think any sane person, of whatever political ilk would agree that immigration must be controlled and sensible. Dehumanising people, who have in a large part suffered appalling conditions, and are fleeing horrors we cant imagine though, says a lot more about those doing the dehumanising than then people in Calais (and elsewhere). I find myself agreeing with left and right on here, but appalled and saddened mainly by the attitudes of the right. Sensible policy and humanity aren't mutually exclusive after all.

Not nice when someone gives you taste of your own medicine is it. I've made my point as other will see. I'm done talking to you unless of course you offer some sort of view point, other than trying to belittle others who actually have a view.

People coming to our shores seeking asylum, I always thought came through authorized channels, direct from refugee centers situated within war zones. These people must be shown kindness, housed, given the necessities to live as decent human beings, and be given free education. They should also be repatriated when their countries are stable and require the skilled artizans to return and rebuild. The vast majority of those people in Calais are not. They are by definition economic migrants. They can afford to pay 00 plus dollars to be trafficked into Europe. If you wish to emigrate there are legitimate channels that everyone else have to use, why should it be different for those across the channel in Calais? Then again, if you've fleeing for your life from an oppressive regime it might be tricky to get all the paperwork in order like a passport etc. A lot of traffickers work on a 'repayment scheme' where in they sell you onto a group in that country, and you work off your debt as an illegal worker (or sex worker). Oppressive regimes and persicutors tend not of been too keen on issuing such people with passports etc and applying to the local embassy for a visa might bring the 'kick-murder' squads a calling.

The interesting thing is that they would get more money from the state in every country they pass through than they do in Britain. The UK offers one of the lowest levels of financial support across Europe yet still it is Britain they want to come to. Part of that is language but doesn't that - at some level - make you proud of our country?
Which would probably be why France has a huge migrant population. English is generally one of the most widely spoken languages in the world. Its amazing how many people speak some English across the world. Interestingly its one of the reasons why England and Australia is so popular with White South Africans as a new country. That said, I really do pity my wifes family who settled in the hills of Sheffield, having emigrated from Durban South Africa...
