It relies on the whole team understanding and being able and those 3 line ups so far were not, which is a problem and why he should've been a bit more realistic. Edited by Rudi Hedman (29 Aug 2017 11.28am) I thought he talked about showing balls, not showing the ball. Some of them already show too much of the ball to the opposition. Balls are those dangly things... well, you know.

I'm not sure whether it's lack of courage or more lack of quality to follow FdBs plans. Which to me is FdBs biggest fault... Pursuing with a system that the current players are not good enough for. Had he bought in more players maybe it would have been different... But he hasn't (yet) so must adapt not blindly charge on.

I got completely what Frank was referring to. It was all too obvious from that Swansea first half and why I think he hooked PVA where we may as well have had a 16 year old returning every pass back to where it came. Sadly that damaged our attacking threat 2nd half. If I got it then in private talks they would've got what he meant. There was certainly an example shown by Cabaye and Chungy. I do think more confident possession can happen with 4 at the back. Mensah. Dann/Tomkins. Sakho. PVA. Then shielding with Luka. And passing and football bollox in Wilf. Cabaye/Jimmy. Cheek. Townsend. It's when he's trying to impose new sh1t like 3 at the back on ward, Kelly, Hennessey actually and a few others, including puncheon, before being confident in possession that it's likely to fail. He does have a chance.

But when 1-3 or 4 don't have the ability then the chain is broken and the others lack courage or sometimes more accurately, confidence that those lacking ability will mess up and leave them exposed in a few seconds time. Those formations should never have been tried until we had 11 of our best players starting. Then when weaker players come in when needed the holes and inadequacies may not be exposed as much. Too much too soon in short for below average or lower than that players in the fastest and most of st competitive league in the world over 38 games.

He does have a chance. It doesn't help that many of them are really static. I think we were one of the 2-3 worst in terms of distance covered per game last year. For a weaker side, that's a disgrace. Also, the supposed good tactics that people claim FDB has ruined, are the same ones that saw us with a home record of W6 D2 L11 last season, and similarly bad records the previous two seasons. At home we ranked 18th last season, 18th the season before, and 16th the one before that. Last year (2016) we went W4 D2 L13 at home. Pathetic. Under Sam we were W4 D0 L4 at home. Despite the uptick under Sam, we were still awful at home, and whomever is our manager will have to deal with that. Sam said that was an important stat to fix, because we will always struggle until we get some decent home form. Edited by NickinOX (29 Aug 2017 12.41pm)

Mercato: Mamadou Sakho (Liverpool) courted by Crystal Palace and Leicester Despite the love of the Liverpool fans , Mamadou Sakho is no longer in the plans of Jurgen Klopp . The international had three possibilities in this end of mercato. West Bromwich Albion was one, but it was discarded by the former Parisian. So there remain two solid tracks: Crystal Palace , where he was loaned last season has just offered 28 million euros to the Reds. But since Monday night, in the final sprint of the transfer window, Leicester City entered the dance and contacted the 27-year-old central defender.

Looking good. We would have 7 CBs: Sakho, Dann, Tomkins, Riedewald, Delaney, Fosu-Mensah, and Kelly, so I wouldn't be surprised to see one go (probably Dann, Tomkins or Kelly). I can definitely see Fosu-Mensah becoming first-choice RB, like he was in the second half against Swansea, so we'd just need to invest in a couple of attacking players.

And a keeper. Now have an image of Hennessey's superman impression through the air thanks to another HOL poster.
