The shots on goal was a record, was it not? Whilst it's only a small snippet, with all three firing on all cylinders it would be a nightmare for opposition and this is most likely in Parish's thoughts. So Parish is allegedly willing to give Zaha a 4 year contract on £200k pw based on the players clicking for one game? I'm more of the opinion that Eze and Olise have stepped out of Zaha's shadow and are now far more vital to the future prospects of the club.

If you flip this on it's head and say we are signing a player of Zaha's calibre for £200k a week on a 4 year deal... I have a feeling most fans would be buzzing about it. £200k a week for what would be almost guaranteed premier league football for 4 years - pays for himself to be honest.

We absolutely would be buzzing about it. He quite clearly wouldn't walk into the top 6 sides, hence the lack of interest. All the big clubs have at least 2 top left forwards. I don't think the issue is that people don't want him or respect him, but: 200k/4 years is a lot, especially for a 30yr old He is showing zero desire to resign for us. And ultimately we want players to want to play for us When there are options out there like a 22yr old Hudson-Odoi that feels like a more exciting long term prospect

He is 30 years old.
If he is top 6 why has none of them come in for him as soon as it was known he would be a free agent you would expect rather then go out spending they would sign him on a free. Wilf does not have a hugh impact in positive way look at his stats they are not great and in negative way is correct with his laziness and moaning/losing temper. Top players do not stay at a club like Palace for 8 years. He has 0 European football experience and even his National team record is not great. If he was surrounded by 3/4 defenders as you claim Palace should be walking to ball in for goals you are thinking of old Wilf. (The current Wilf gives the ball away a lot of the time and has no interest in evening having assists last season he had only 2 the year before 1) Palace need to move on from him If they did retain him 2 year deal at the most and either the same money is is currently on or a reduction even 130 grand a week is too much.

I don’t believe for 1 minute that Wilf has been offered £200k a week and a 4 year contract by Palace and I also have no idea what is going on behind the scenes but it is clear as can be that we are not his 1st choice club or he would have signed. It looks to me that he is going to end up at a club that is an even worse option than Palace because he’s backed himself into a corner.

Poor wilf. He has made poor decisions his whole career. Don't foresee this being anything different. Who is advising him?

We don't know if any of the top 6 has come in for him to be honest. We don't really know anything, it's all guesswork and clickbait reports. Also, stats don't tell the whole story so that's not exactly the best way of looking at his career at Palace.

No one knows though because we're not told and not going to be told. I believe Wilf has earned the right to see what else is out there before potentially committing to us. If we want him, and we clearly do, then £200k a week for 4 years (if offered) puts us in the top 3/4 offers he is likely to receive. If it was £150k for 2 years, I'd say we don't have a chance. I have no doubt though that the board and Parish have costed up the risk/reward of this and clearly can afford to pay him that from our current budget. There is no transfer fee for him too so that probably plays a factor, as if we were to replace him - that could cost us around £30-40m for the transfer fee. When you sign a free agent you have to offer a contract that is bloated because there is no transfer fee. All clubs will do the same thing so it bloats the market. That's all that is happening here

Zaha makes too many poor choices and has been said in other posts, too often loses the ball these days. He also slows the play down when we fans are willing him to pass the ball quickly to players who are in promising positions. I'm sorry but the Zaha you seem to be promoting was a player at his peak and that is no longer the case. He's been a great player for us but he owes us nothing and neither do we owe him anything. Time to move on for both parties. Edited by doombear (06 Jul 2023 3.02pm)
