If he comes he'll be a welcome addition, one that will HELP, not cure the current squads woes, we still need a Keeper and and a Striker. Also should Townsend go to make the Sakho deal easier on the club then we'll need another winger! Quite right. There's also the thorny issue of coaching style and whether FdB is really a good fit for Palace (answer: no?!) But having said all that, Sakho will make us a great deal more secure at the back and he is by all accounts a leader on the filed and off the field. Sammy Lee knows how to get the best out of him. AS BFS used to say: you start by not losing football matches.

He has a mistake in him as he attacks the ball and in the past has relied on Lovren and Tomkins/Dann to be there to pick up any loose balls. In a back 3 if he were to adopt this approach then if he missed the challenge it'd leave the player clear in on goal..

Sakho may not be the messiah But no getting away from the fact that until he joined our defending was dire, And he steadied the ship and was and will be a massive influence on the team and in the dressing room, The guy want's to come to Palace, Its reported that he agreed personal terms before he left for the summer break, If he does not come here it will be a travesty, with one person responsible for him not coming here, And I think we ll know who I am referring too

He isn't the messiah but currently he remains Liverpool's best centre back! Not my words but the words of season ticket holders at Anfield who don't get why he hasn't been given a second chance when they don't seem to be able to close off a deal for a player at potentially £75m! He made Tomkins look a better player and I think he'll work well with Fosu-Mensah. If Liverpool are looking to spend around £150m in the next couple of days on VVD and Lemar I'd have thought FFP would dictate they need to sell him to us to balance the books!

It strikes me as quite possible that de Boer didn't rate or want Sakho and that one of the points made in yesterday's bollocking was that he was going to play him or else. It's also possible that Sakho had to be persuaded to put up with de Boer. It's possible that raising the money was contingent on some sale, e.g. Townsend. And so on and so on. There are 101 ways to bugger up a proposed transfer.

With Sakho in the squad we'd look a hell of a lot stronger and we'd also have a leader... Something we've been massively lacking. With FdB's crisis meeting I also expect we'll be seeing a lot more of a solid 451 (if he continues with 3 at the back against Burnley he's gonna make things difficult for himself). Here's what our options would then be in a 451 which I don't think is regressing as we'll have better players playing it. Hennessy Fosu-Mensah(Ward) Dann(Tomkins) Sakho (Riedewald) PVA (Schlupp) Milivojevic (Riedewald) Zaha Loftus-Cheek (Puncheon) Cabaye (MacArthur) Townsend Benteke It does highlight our real weakness in secondary attacking options though.

If this transfer does get over the line in the next few days I'd like to see him installed as captain straight away, revert to the formation used under Sam as all of the players are still here, with some useful loanees.

Thats a good call, But i am not sure if Frank can inspire the team, He seems a very dour personality and has already accused them publicly of being cowardly, Not the best way to get the dressing room rocking

He said they lacked courage, and he was talking about showing and wanting the ball and moving into space and players passing into space. It relies on the whole team understanding and being able and those 3 line ups so far were not, which is a problem and why he should've been a bit more realistic.
