We need to promote home ownership where people live in the house they own. Second homes and too many landlords is a luxury that poor economic and housing planning has gone to excess.

We need housing and housing ownership and there are far too many people hoarding housing for personal profit.

It has a use but not to this extent.

Perhaps those who like authoritarianism should have some authoritarianism applied to themselves.

Fully agree.

As you know I strongly oppose our policies on immigration but if that's going to be a policy then you need house building and ownership to match it.

Landlords are taking advantage of a situation created by government that reduces the general success of the next generation....the fact that far fewer of them get to own a home is a scandal....a betrayal.

I genuinely think government of every type has been completely irresponsible on housing....well, pretty much all my adult life. They have used rising house prices as an easy economic income and pulled the ladder up for young people...pure short termism.

If you're going to increase a population massively in a situation where people are dying much older then build the frigging houses and infrastructure for them.

It's enough to make you go spare.

Where do think all the “others” are coming from? On small boats? Illegally in other ways?

The number coming here to work or study is not small. 39% of visas issued in the year to June last year were to study. The vast majority of students go home after their course ends. 33% are working visas, the biggest employer being the NHS. Then there are the humanitarian visas issued to Ukrainians. Then family visas.

Do you want the NHS to be in an even greater mess than it already is?

Do you want to deny British universities the fee income they derive from oversees students?

Do you want to keep families apart?

Do you not want to offer sanctuary to displaced people?

I am a landlord!

I took a redundant, uninhabitable property, spent £125,000 on it 10 years ago to covert it into 3 small letting units for which there was a big shortage in its locality. There is almost no availability of such units through either the council or housing associations.

My current tenants are an elderly lady who was cheated out the home she owned by relatives taking advantage of her kind nature, an elderly couple who have moved to be close to their son and an ex convict trying, and succeeding to rebuild his life.

I look after my tenants. Good ones are worth looking after. Any problems get sorted swiftly. Rents tend not to be raised during tenancies and are now behind inflation.

I am proud of what I have done. A need has been met that wasn’t. At the same time the income it produces beats interest rates, even now with higher rates and the value of the property has increased to.

I am not responsible for government policy or failures. My units would be almost impossible to sell individually so will always be rented. There is a need for them in the way some people live today.

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.
