Not true. We played exciting football in different eras in the Championship and steamrollered teams week on week at times. Maybe that's our best bet to see a better quality of football

We had a far worse team under Pulis, in fact it was sh1t. However, at least you could tell we tried hard, and at least we demonstrated that we probably practised set pieces.
Anyone see our corner stats? They're unacceptable from a professional football team. And who can you blame except the manager? We clearly do not work on set pieces and this is shown in every match we play. We would score 10 or 11 goals from set pieces if we actively worked on them, so we would have scored a lot more than we have.
This is surely a basic fundamental part of football and, whilst I never particularly cared that Kane took corners for England, I now see how inept we, and by extension Roy, are in that department.
Not good enough at all and merits a word at the very least. I think it's one goal from over 150 corners. We have probably conceded more from our own corners than we have scored. This is genuinely pathetic.

Well it's hardly surprising since our captain takes the vast majority of them and like his indirect free kicks, they leave a lot to be desired. When was the last time Palace put a corner over like that prat Ward-Prowse did against Man Ure?

Again, it's up to the manager who takes them, and how they are taken. The buck stops there. And it's not acceptable.

Some have defended Hodgson because of lack of spend which they say in turn has restricted his playing options.
There is no doubt that there are gaps in the squad but the influence of the lack of spend warrants greater scrutiny.
Fulham spend around £100m and went down.
Aston Villa did similar and may share the same fate.
West Ham, Everton and Newcastle have also spent large sums and are not particularly good teams.
Burnley have spent little on the other hand and have stayed competitive.
Also where we have spent large sums on Benteke, Sakho and to a lesser extent Wickham we have not had a particularly good return.
Our value has come from shrewd purchases such as Mcarthur and Dann who have performed over a period of years.

if anything, it looks like Roy will run down his contract, Zaha will go - a few youngster bought in, a few higher earners shipped out in some shape/form over the summer.
We probably struggle next season, but stay up and have potential... to rebuild after the dead wood etc is out... then, that summer, after a lengthy process a new bloke will be in place and he will have to carry on the hard task of keeping us in the league with a few new signings....

that's probably the reality.

This was once a quality forum....

Being a Crystal Palace Supporter means supporting the club as a whole not any individual. Obviously people have their likes and dislikes that is just human nature but to slag of our manager the way this forum is doing is not supporting Crystal Palace.

My point was if you want to watch better football go and watch the clubs with mega money that can afford players costing £70 million plus.

look lively lads, it's the Palace Police

No, safe pair of hands, signed new contract, got us our highest epl points total,Roys here for at least another season , lets hope Steve and the Yanks back him this time!Bring in a corner delivery coach/set pieces etc. My tip for the striker coach (brighty?), is line up the squad , place ball on penalty spot, no goalkeeper, and let them try and hit the net, move ball same distance back, and repeat, carry on until people fail, and drop out, until we have a winner, it will hopefully let the players see they can have a go from distance and actually see the net bulging which might be a new experience for some!Brighty take notice!

Careful Roy, you may not be in charge to manage this influx of 'frees' and loan signings ???

Hodgson has had a lot of critics of which I am one.
However, more performances like tonight could lead to a change of view
We played 2 up front with Zaha freed of some of his defensive responsibilities and seemed to play ten yards further forward as a team which led to plenty of opportunities.
We look much better as a team when Hodgson releases the shackles.
I just hope we can continue in this vein and am sure we would get results playing this way.

Do you know something everyone else doesn't? Or is this just wishful thinking?

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

Yes, much better tactics but the ball still needs to be put in the back of the opposition's net. Admittedly, it doesn't help when 'technology' rules Ayew mm offside but doesn't even review a good penalty call.

Hodgson hasn't all of a sudden become a sh*t manager. Quite a few people have become sh*t 'fans', though.
