It'll be Labour and not the Tories who slash your income.....they will get rid of the triple lock and will redistribute and rebalance funds to younger voters. As a generalization The Tory vote is a boomer one, the Labour vote is a young one. Just as long as you're cool with that that's fine. Steeleye is like one of the communist stooges who were still praising Stalin as the KGB shot them in the back of the head.

Emotionally and instinctively he's against us....maybe it's a form of self hatred or the old 'I didn't get along with my father' routine, who knows I wouldn't insult him to ask. However, while I wouldn't ask him to vote Tory I think it's fair to bring up the reality that if he thinks Labour will be an improvement I think he'll be mistaken. In many ways both parties are a uniparty but when it comes to taxation and who it hits.....you can see where Labour are headed, whether they are honest about it or not. And Starmer would say the moon is made of concentrated orange juice if he thought it would get him a large majority.

Because it's necessary to re-balance away from the older well off but burdensome generation who do not contribute to the younger and working families who do, especially lower paid and including immigrants who we need in our NHS and in care. If he is to do good, Starmer will have to present the economic facts of life to our elderly free-loaders. Wealth has to be taxed, the inequality of the UK a major cause of its economic decline, supporting wealthy people and corporations has not worked. Europeans are generally now considerably better off than their British neighbours around £10,800 per annum on average and we have worse benefits and low or zero caps on energy and rent which reduce inflation.

What a marvellous way to reward people for working hard all their lives.

Can't say I agree with much but I certainly appreciate the spicy post.

I presume you will prioritise wealthier, elderly Jews in this stealing of the money of relatively better off people?

As an older “boomer” it might surprise some that there is much here that I agree with. I was surprised that the triple lock wasn’t abandoned at the Autumn review and can only conclude that it wasn’t to keep the grey vote onside. It no longer makes economic sense and needs to go, even though I will suffer. Taxing wealth is essential. It should have been done years ago blended with a reformed inheritance tax system. How it is done is another question but the basic principle that the more you have the greater the burden needs to be gradually tightened. Avoiding the tax avoiders is the key.

Here is a set of recent opinion polls, for those who cannot be botherd to open the link.Basically the Tories are so far behind someone needs to release search and rescue dogs. Starmer has a massive popularity lead. Rishi is so far behind help cannot reach him, think King Herod in a kindergarden.https://www.ipsos.com/en-uk/uk-opinion-polls

It is absurd to believe that taxing anyone more is going to somehow going to lead to equality (whatever that is) or significantly increase the financial well being of the population. Giving more money to governments (or the NHS) is like giving whisky to an alcoholic.
