As I said, they flirted with relegation (ie they were not seriously threatened but were at times in danger of being dragged into a relegation fight). Also, from a quick google I can see that in 2021 they went 12 games without a win in the 2021/2022 season...that bad run started with a 1-1 draw with us

Edit: in fact from that draw with us in September until a draw with Chelsea on 29 December they played 14 and only won one game in three months. Work harder on your stats Willo

As I mentioned I had no recollection of the specific details of Brighton's drought in terms of the timesscale I highlighted but I thank you for providing this information, it is much appreciated.

You're welcome. By the way, they didn't quite go three months without a win, securing a win the day before what would have been three calendar months. My point was that Brighton stuck by Potter, even when the fans turned hostile for a while.

I thought we were hasty to ditch Vieira, but if it is true that behind closed doors he had lost his passion for the role then I understand his dismissal more. That was the reason I disliked Pulis; he never seemed to show any passion or affection for the club, even talking about us in the third person. Whatever any of us might think about Roy as a manager he does at least clearly have affection for Palace. It was the same when Warnock was here, and of course Coppell.

I'm not sure that I believe those rumours and if Patrick didn't have the stomach for a relegation battle why was he so keen to join Leeds.

Perhaps he had lost his passion for working for Parish

From an acknowledged place of ignorance, this would be the reasoning I'd be more inclined to believe for Vieira's apparent aloofness and disinterest in role.

Either way, he had become insufficiently capable to deliver what we needed so had to go whatever the reasoning IMHO.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

All I will assert is that I was not surprised one iota to hear that Vieira had been relieved of his duties.

Yet on 12th March you posted that "I suspect that a change is not on the radar."

That was then. It was probably a day or two later that I was of a different mindset and when the axe fell I was not surprised at all.

I have not perused the link but I believe I might have hinted that there was the possibility of a difference of opinion in the Boardroom regarding the tenureship of the manager.

In any event, what I thought and subsequently thought shortly afterwards is of little consequence.I am just a lustreless dud, a scrivening dullard and just a miniscule spoke in a large wheel.

We're being heavily linked with Cooper. I always thought he'd be ok but, after watching a few interviews, I have to say he doesn't seem the brightest. I suppose you don't need to be a rocket scientist to be a football manager. Probably loads of them are a bit thick. I believe Cooper has quite a lot of high level experience considering his age. In a way he reminds me of a less depressed and more down to Earth, Coppell. Forest must be bloody difficult with 45 new players.

My understanding is that the total of new acquisitions is not that high and is 29 - A total of 22 in the summer window and 7 in the January window.

When Cooper took up the reins at Nottm Forest last season they were 2nd from bottom after 8 games and of course he led them to promotion via the play-offs.
Cooper led England U17s to success in the U17s World Cup in 2017.

I was being a little sarcastic. I perhaps should have said 100 players.

Maybe we send Forest down in our last game of the season, and then nick their manager?

Agree.

I have to say though whilst resenting BHA being the prime example of it, rightly or wrongly my view is that of us implementing what I see to be a half-ar$ed, ill-informed and underfunded attempt from us to emulate a very professional, well-coordinated approach to matters.

It has felt at times like we are becoming the Ralph Laurent, George Armani, Lewis Vuitton of the PL. Certainly will if we go down. I've no criticism for the attempted approach only for the execution.

2 teams above us are of comparable size and are doing it how we should. However, 8 teams below us are a shambles and have spent more than us, some considerably more. I think a lot of the anger is informed by who one of those 2 teams above us are.

I get the feeling we are in a holding pattern till either there is settlement at board level or the academy comes through or both.
