This could get interesting seeing as FIFA hasn't done anything yet in regards to Russia like UEFA has.
This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise. |

Hear is the Western response to the current crisis. UK - Our intelligence services are hard at it, checking their white privilege and pronouns that is (I kid you not). When they have done that they will get around to checking what the Russian are up to. Anyone got a non gender specific map of Russia? Germany - Nothing to reliant on Russian energy. Italy - Are hard at it, selling luxury goods to the wives of the oligarchs that is. The French - they will sign up to anything you like and then ignore it. The rest, zilch, nada etc. A pathetic response from the whole lot. Boris - Churchillian speech but empty words. Biden - Still trying to remember is it Uruguay that the Russian have invaded? Trump - Still claiming he lost the election. Corbyn / Abbott / Stop the War Coalition. Supporting Russia and blaming the West. Very predictable like a police office claiming that the defendant attacked his fist with his face. Starmer - Doing his Corporal Jones / Captain Mannering trying to look in charge whilst some of his party are off message and talking about Palestine, just in case anyone still had doubts about anti Jewish sentiments in the Labour Party. God us help once there were giants now we have pygmies (Oops MI5 have just told me I can't say that word). People of restricted stature? Poking fun at our politicians isn't going to help anyone, is it? In actual fact, given that every country has different issues to cope with there has been an impressive degree of solidarity over this, the credit for which seems due to the USA. Though I somehow doubt there will be an acknowledgement of that here! I watched the UN debate yesterday evening, and the speeches afterwards from the UN President and the US representative, who was surrounded by dozens of other ambassadors. Russia was almost completely isolated and thoroughly torn apart. The language of the condemnations was as direct and undiplomatic as I can ever remember coming from within the UN. Russia vetoed the censure motion, as expected, but as they hold the chair also had the uncomfortable task of having to introduce the motion. China abstained. However, the degree of solidarity and strength of feelings expressed, must give them pause for thought. It might all only be symbolic, but such symbolism can bring about change.
For the avoidance of doubt any comments in response to a previous post are directed to its ideas and not at any, or all, posters personally. |

I was using satire to make a valid point, lots of waffle from the people you admire and very little action.

I was using satire to make a valid point, lots of waffle from the people you admire and very little action. It didn't bypass me at all. I enjoy satire a lot. I just don't think the analogies are appropriate. I think the efforts being made are quite impressive and demonstrate how well the international community can come together when needed. Even Johnson and Starmer are avoiding imitating Punch and Judy at the moment. Without risking escalation via military confrontation slowly turning the thumbscrews is the next best option.

Here we go again! I suggested recently that you needed to go to Specsavers, and this is more evidence of that need. I said I was responding to a post. Check the one at 12.41 yesterday which included "We saw this with Trump and now Putin" and was what was being responded to. Everything I said, including the request not to get diverted, was as a consequence of that. I suggest that you start to put things into their context before firing off both barrels just because you appear to have an obsession over wanting to criticise me. "It's especially obvious now with Putin. We can keep Trump in the long grass for the moment, even though he praised Putin a day or so ago." These are the words, are you saying this is a direct quote from someone else?
Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |

I know I should not bite, that nothing is achieved and I am feeding what is perhaps the greatest Troll on the WWW but seriously? The entire point is that the 'International Community' are doing f*** all. Sanctions? Old f***ing hat. Calling Putin all kinds of nasty names? The West have two choices. Either stick its jets into the air and take on the Russian airforce along with hitting all kinds of strategic targets and give the Ukrainians at least a chance to mount a serious counter-offensive. Or tell the Ukrainians to sit down, offer full and unconditional neutrality by way of bringing about an end to the fighting and hope that the Russians don't decide to take all the land east of the Dnieper. But they won't. Because Germany wants the gas, Italy wants the Gucci concessions, Belgium wants to sell the diamonds and so on and on. And you want to know something about the UK? We want to keep the BILLIONS that we allow Russians to launder through our banking systems. The Spice has to keep flowing. And yes, more fool me for even engaging with you but sometimes low-hanging fruit has a decadent sweetness that is just too tempting, despite the fact that it will bring on a case of the runs at the most inopportune of times.

Not that prick David Lammy though. In fact, one of the more nauseating aspects of the situation is Labour MPs trying to make political gain from it.

I am picking up some dissension in Russia itself. Politicians not happy - probably they were never asked. Soldiers - why are we here? The population - why are we doing this to Ukraine? Johnson scored heavily with his address 'not in the Russia peoples name'. Its only for the very brave as we know - we mustn't get dragged into blaming their people.

Or maybe because that would risk a nuclear cataclysm. There is no way that we can directly take on Russia unless they invade a NATO country.
