The team is rudderless. We need a leader and Sakho is that man. When he was here last season all the players raised their game. He led they followed. We must sign him and make him captain You are 100% correct. Sakho is not just a very good central defender. He makes the players around him feel more confident; with confidence they play with more freedom - they are less afraid, for example, to try an ambitious forward pass. And ... do not forget that Sakho would certainly not have let Wilf get bullied in the way he was by Huddersfield. He would have been right in their faces from the off and would have given some physical and verbal "reminders" to their players about having to deal with him if they continued to target Wilf. Every team needs an enforcer (Vieira, Keane, Terry). Jedi played this role for us. Sakho can be that man. Sign Sakho. Make him captain. See the spirit of the whole dressing room lift.

Would still need FDB to have a re-think as regards his formation dreams otherwise it's a waste of cash.

Should have been completed long ago as a statement of intent for this season and not just a panic buy. It's just cheap skating while the ice has melted! Poor messaging to the player, our team, the manager (ffs get rid!) but most of all to all our supporters. Parish get your act together!!!

We are going to run with just one centre forward for the season ? If that's the case there is no doubt in my mind we will go down.

How hard can it be? "Dear Herr Klopp, we hereby bid your asking price of £30m for Mahmadou Sakho. Yours sincerely, Steve". If West Brom are prepared to stump up that sum for him then further attempts to swing it on the cheap would just put us out of consideration. It wouldn't make us look ridiculous though because it isn't really possible to look more ridiculous than we already do.

I wonder if Parish's delaying will succeed in reducing Liverpool's price at all - we're the ones in the desperate situation, who might well rely on signing Sakho to save our PL status, and Liverpool surely know they can still charge a huge price.

If that's the case there is no doubt in my mind we will go down. Shane Long transfer fee would be minimal and Wickham is back in January. Still have a poor keeper though. Mensah could play RWB if Sakho, Dann and Tomkins are available but I'd prefer a back 4.

Experience suggests that when it's Liverpool you're dealing with the number they first thought of turns out to be about what the market will bear and they will hold out for it, so you might as well pay up. In this case if we don't pay the asking price for Sakho then Pulis' mob will. Give the man his money and use the time left to sort out the other deals we need, including the sales. Otherwise we will find ourselves haggling over £2m, losing the player and not having time to do anything else either. Edited by chateauferret (27 Aug 2017 11.33am)
