Thought the BBC programme was fairly predictable last night. They know that the chances of Labour under Corbyn winning an election are extremely slim, which just means another anti-BBC Tory government until 2020; more than enough time for the corporation to be changed beyond recognition.

Auntie BBC has been more like Comrade BBC for a long long time now. Blatant left wing bias wherever you look. It's hardly surprising that the Tories have finally had enough of their loonie lefty liberal (small l) luvvie propaganda. It's high time the Beeb became the unbiased public service and entertainment channel it is meant to be.

Have the Daily Mail released generic opinions you can just copy and paste on to internet forums now?

I agree. It is a disgrace that we are forced to pay for their propaganda. How far would they get if they had to rely on subscriptions from those they support - like the Muslim Council of Britain, or Greens/SNP/TUSC, or Kid's Company. I expect some of the millionaire 'artists' like Grayson, Hirst and Gilbert & George would bung in a few bob, after all the BBC does try to compare them with Rembrandt.

If you can't see left wing bias as it smacks you in the face then you're foolish. In the same way that if you read the Telegraph you can see right wing bias smacking you in the face.

The difference is that the BBC has become the go to place for news thanks to the license fee that is mandatorily paid for by ALL of society, rather than the Telegraph which is paid for by its readership, i.e. by choice.

The right think the Beeb are a bunch of Commies

The left think the Beeb are a bunch of fascists

There are times I think individual pieces carry a fair bit of bias (on other subjects as well as political)but overall they are pretty well balanced.

Hyperbole in the extreme. The BBC is probably liberal rather than left wing in any real sense of the left, which places it roughtly in the center of the political spectrum. No means of communication about politics can be unbiased, the very nature of communication and language propergate individual bias and influence.

This. If both sides of the political spectrum think you're biased against them, then you're probably doing OK. The do let themselves down on a few pieces from time to time where a definite bias is perceptible, but on the whole they're pretty impartial.

If they could just lose the gobby lefties from QT I'd be happy (you know the type - cheer uproariously whenever a lefty makes a point no matter how fatuous, boo with contempt whenever a right winger makes a point no matter how valid, and then think you've won the argument because you were loudest. See Griffin, Nick)

I agree with you both, which is why I generally link to their stories on here when discussing something.

Interested how this always gets trotted out. Probably fairer to describe it as "progressive" though also have to note that its two most senior political correspondents Nick Robinson and Jeremy Paxman are both Tories

He was also on the shortlist to be the Tory candidate for London mayor

I generally mean liberal in the older sense, than the Liberal Democrat sense. Which I'd probably also call 'middle of the road' politically. The BBC is very open to Personal Politics, the risqué and controversial in a way that ITV isn't, and Channel 4 no longer seems to have a taste for doing well.

Of course its hard to be much more establishment than BBC Radio 4 (easily the finest thing on the airwaves).
