Same. I don't begrudge the England girls winning this year by any means, but it's just a bit pointless really as a concept and so subjective. Sporting achievements speak for themselves, that's kind of the point. Getting an award that says 'and we like you too!' is surplus to requirements. Subjective and completely partisan. Here's an example: The lady won Coach of the Year for guiding 'The Lionesses' towards 'making history' by winning the women's Euro tournament. That same lady guided another country (the Netherlands) towards victory in the previous edition of the tournament, in 2017. Where was she in the Coach of the Year reckoning at the 2017 Sports Personality of The Year show? Answer: nowhere. Where were the mentions on the Netherlands 'making history' by breaking an unbroken stranglehold on the competition by Germany? Answer: nowhere! I recall back in the day when the decathlon at the Olympic games barely got a mention in the media. It was some strange combination of events competed for by a group of mad Germans (East and West) and Soviet bloc athletes. Then along came Daley Thompson. Overnight the decathlon became the most important sporting challenge in the history of the world...ever! And Daley Thompson became "surely" the greatest athlete the world has ever seen (etc etc) never mind that reporters and journalists spouting such hyperbole wouldn't be able to name a previous winner of the decathlon gold medal without extensive research beforehand. And don't get me started on Southgate winning Coach of the Year for England winning 3, drawing 1 and losing 3 matches at a World Cup!

Made the Olympics cooler when we were plucky underdogs winning the odd medal. The expectation added to the stupid amount of events has eroded the enjoyment. It was Britain might get a medal with Thompson or Ovett, and joy when it was a gold or silver. Now, it's Britain expects four golds from the cycling - oh no, they only got two and a bronze, terrible, defund the sport.

The Whole World and 90% of the people in it. Merry Christmas
