Give it to Freedman for the next season - lets see what he can do.

Why?
If you reckon he could do it - we might as well see if we can get Pardew back - his managerial stats are much better than Freedmans and he’s at least got premier league experience. Or how about Coleman or Hughes as their numbers are better as well? But in reality, they’ve all got one thing in common - they’re not good enough.

No one can articulate why Freedman would be a decent appointment other than “look at the documentary, that was his team.” Well it wasn’t, was it, as he walked out on us - IN MID-OCTOBER - not in April. So just 2 months after the season started and 7 before it ended. It’s disrespectful to Ian Holloway (who I wouldn’t want back either) to suggest otherwise and the rather nauseating love-in contained within the documentary cannot change history, stats or dates.

As I remember it we were in the top two or three when Freedman was contacted via the club by Bolton, the other relevant piece of info was that he was assistant manager until George Burley was relinquished of his duties and Freedman made acting manager. SP could at that point have given the job (and a pay rise) to Freedman but left him on the assistants money allegedly. I don't know what happened in the "car park" but legend has it that he was told to make the team more exciting and that is when we started moving up the table and into the promotion places.
I would happily have Dougie back as manager provided we had a decent coach cum assistant and there was some money allocated for the squad to be improved and the average age reduced.

Enjoying getting up later and not having someone who knows better than me (apart from the missus of course).

Seriously, if we appoint Dougie we must be in a mess...you could argue that Wayne Rooney has a better recent managerial record, and at least he could come on with 10 mins to go and maybe score!

The only suggestion of Freeman becomming manager, has appeared on fan sites, after When Eagles Dare was released.
There isnt the slightest possibilty of Freeman being the next manager.

I think the thing that came out of the program most was how absolutely crap Holliday was, and that Freedman who bought Bolasie, Murray, Delaney and Moritz, and got the system spot on for the players we had.

“That’s a joke son, I say, that’s a joke.” “Nice boy, but he’s sharp as a throw pillow.” “He’s so dumb he thinks a Mexican border pays rent” “ “Son… I say, son, some people are so narrow minded they can look through a keyhole with both eyes.”__ Forhorn Leghorn

I find DF a really interesting choice and whenever I listen to him talk about his brief spell as manager he always impresses me.
He obviously knows how to put together a team, he reminds me of some of the old school managers that know what they need and can see potential in players like not many can.
When you look at the signings he’s made recently and put them into the system he played I think he’d do well.
It makes me wonder though if him working with Roy was a bit of an issue.
Eze would for me play the Jonny Williams / Moritz role as would that fella we had on loan and never played even max mayer MAY have worked there. We have loads of holding mids to play the Millie/ KG roles and with Andros , Schulp, Wilf ,Tekkers and the new guy we have our front 3 which now needs a bit of youth with Townsend especially getting on a bit. But quick wingers and battering ram strikers.
The trouble has been him and Roy obviously not being on the same page and Roy playing a different system with players in positions they weren’t maybe bought for.
I think we either need to let him manage and maybe employ some quality caching staff or maybe part ways with Dougie and employ a manager that can buy the players he wants for his system.

He’d be cheap, knows the players and would blood the youth.

If we don't spend plenty of money on the team we're going down whoever they appoint. We may as well appoint Dougie as he'll be cheap. You just never know, he might find a formula that keeps us up for one more year.

I suspect any experienced manager appointed, that we could afford, would have expectations that the club just cannot meet, and we'd have no chance.
