........& they've just beaten Spurs 3-0 If that's spurs first team then happy days. Otherwise it's just a reason to be hopeful, and certainly not a business plan.

The only two I would consider are Howe and Dyche. Both have managed lower premier league teams with some success for a period of time. Lampard had one year at Derby with limited success to take over at Chelsea with lots of resources. Those talking about youngsters he’ll bring through should realise that we don’t have the same quality of youngsters that Chelsea do.

This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise. |

True, but different taking over a team in the bottom third of the championship after their most hated manager ever, to taking over a established but lower too division team from a vastly experienced manager. Much more to lose if you get it wrong. I’ve nothing against Lampard, but he has nowhere near the credentials of Howe or Dyche in this situation. If we can’t get either of them and Roy us stepping down then maybe we will have to take the risk, but if I was Parish I would be doing what I could to try and get either of them. Parrish we know is no fool - the only time he really f*cked up was with FDB - if Lampard has persuaded him he has what it takes I'm prepared to trust that decision. Lampard's record is mixed but there is much more success than failure - two good seasons and one where he was found out at top level. My Chelsea die hard source tells me Lampard one-by-one lost the senior/older players, he could not get the respect that younger or Championship players would give him. He might have a touch of the Steve Clarke's about him and take longer to grasp the man-management part of the job, but I think some of this emphasis on being able to instil fear is exaggerated - Solskjear's doing OK without a hairdryer, same with Potter and others. Hopefully Lampard has learnt how to make his sides better defensively and has convinced Parrish of that, because that would be the other legitimate concern.

Yes true and hopefully in a couple of years they may come good. We don’t seem to have a Mason Mount or Tammy Abraham yet there though, who have a year or so experience loaned out in the championship. Hopefully whoever comes in will give them some game time, but I think we are a couple of years away from that at the moment. Originally posted by eagleman13
