I was against his appointment for a long time but honestly think Eddie Howe would be the best solution for us now.

Bring him in alongside a proper director of football and try to emulate the Leicester model of buying low, selling high, buying low again to try and improve the squad. That's the only possible option we have to stay in this division without playing football that makes your eyes bleed.

We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold...

In order to emulate Leicester, we would need to see a significant improvement in investment and some more risk taking with regards to transfers. For all their good work, they blew 150+m on this lot

Ayoze Perez - 30m
Philip Benkovic - 15m
Danny ward - 12m
Adrian Silva - 23m
Vicente Iborra -13m
Isman Slimani - 30m
Ahmed Musa - 18m
Rachid Ghazzel - 13m

However, when you take some risks some gems do come out of it also. I can never see how board taking this approach. Too costly, however if agree it works for them.

Some of their signings have been highlighted but Leicester's 'Net Spend' has been far from lavish in recent seasons as they have sold the likes of Maguire,Mahrez,Kante,Chilwell and Drinkwater for sizeable amounts of money.

I agree, but their modal is not to buy cheap, it requires significant investment and billionaire owners who invest in the team. They spend big and use an algorithm like some other clubs and take risks. Their net spend has paid off and I am not dismissing the approach. However, l can’t see Palace adopting a smiliar approach is all I’m suggesting. We have spent 40m in the last 5 years. I may be wrong

They certainly never spent lavish sums on the players they sold for significant fees :
Mahrez £560,000 Maguire £17 Mill Chilwell Academy
Drinkwater £675,000, Kante £5.6 Mill.

I think I recall his wife and he live a significant period of time on the Wirral. I could be wrong and have not done a Willo Wikigoogle. If that is correct then it is hardly commutable or realistic and may be looking at a more Northern team.
