Maybe it escaped your attention, but we did score goals, 2. Brighton got 1. No luck involved.

The PL is about excellent defending, if you come up short as we have lately, you get punished. This time we defended very well, the weed lost Benteke twice, the second time cost them. Let's keep our shape and results will come, starting against Fulham. Be grounded, don't leave yourself open.

If we can somehow manage to free Eze and a healthy Wilf on counter attacks, with Mateta or perhaps a confident Benteke in the box, we might be able to find a few more goals than heretofore.

On the question of goals scored, we are only 2 behind what we got in the whole of last season and have scored more league goals than SEVEN teams in our league (including, of course, Brighton, despite all their pretty football). And we are managing it with the worst injury record of any team in the PL (including Liverpool).

The only players who we have injured that are likely to be in the squad are Zaha, Schlupp, McArthur and Tomkins. That’s just 4. Compared to a lot of teams including Liverpool I reckon that’s pretty good and certainly no excuse for our pathetic and embarrassing tactics.

Embarassed? come on we're Palace, everyone hates us even the BBC and the more they hate us the more we like it. If you do not get that you perhaps haven't been a Palace supporter for long enough.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

Also we have to consider the issue over the whole season so far and we started our season with our reserve defence in place and like Liverpool have been unable to start with a settled defensive line-up for most of the season. As for Liverpool how many of their injured players would be first choice? I'd say, Van Digt, one out of Gomes and Matip and possibly Jota. Hendo only joined the list last weekend. I doubt there has been a single game this season in which we've been able to field our first choice XI.

Although we haven't yet seen him, I'd add Ferguson to that list as a probable first team starter and many (although, not me) would also say Sakho. In other words half our first team starting XI. And although he often looks vulnerable - when he plays the stats suggest we're a better defensive unit.
