we played Swansea in the Caribou when Potter was manager (1-0 Sorloth!!!) - he fielded seven debutants and they played us of the park for an hour. Brighton just need a proper striker - simples. Nice article here saying Potter is too good for Brighton...

Nice article here saying Potter is too good for Brighton... Whilst good in attack, we had very few chances to assess their defence. I think it got put to the test 3 times and we scored 2. The second goal they had 4 men back in the area but no one looked out for Benteke. He seems like a Pardew MK2. We are far too cautious, they need to be more cautious. Their signings show that there is no point spending money for the sake of it.

Hmmm, not sure about this. I like Eddie Howe but my worry is that he took his last club down. The club would need to do due diligence on the reasons behind that before they employed him. Same with this Bloke, although there is the added concern here that his teams, despite all that possession and tippy tappy stuff, could not hit a cows arse with a banjo.

Interesting debate but I’m not convinced yet with the Potter way. That is 4 times a Potter Brighton side has faced us with all the games following a similar pattern and they haven’t beaten us in any of them. Now we can say all they need is a striker or two but he plays a system where they have about 6 players playing the same role, if he changed this and had a couple of strikers that didn’t drop deep, holes would start to appear in there midfield as it would become exposed therefore all the neat passing would reduce.

Last season when Brighton drifted towards the relegation zone, Potter went to a less expansive, more pragmatic set up. I can see the same happening this season if they fail to win at West Brom on Saturday. Which begs the question as to why he hasn't learned from that and has persisted with a style of play which is not yielding enough wins. The football is I admit easy on the eye, but then just gets frustrating when possession isn't turned into goals. Anyone saying they were unlucky against Palace the other night needs to bear in mind that this was a standard Brighton performance. Especially at home. It's not unlucky when it's happening most of the time.

Yes doombear, I think it is. It’s almost as if the Barcelona way mesmerised so many. Don’t get me wrong if is a great way to play if you have top players and I do think he could make a better fist of it with a top team. Answering the original question though, I would be worried if he came into Palace, the funds that he has had at Brighton to change the style wouldn’t be there and we just don’t have the players to play this way. I keep banging on about it but our midfield is dire, just no pace to pass and move.

As you say our midfield is dire and as I've said elsewhere add to that our ageing, slow back line and we really have few options as to how to set the squad up whoever is manager. If we try and do a Brighton or a Leeds or even a Fulham with our current crop of players we'd be in the Championship in no time IMO. Just hoping that the evolution to younger, fitter and faster players will continue this summer with some timely acquisitions of midfielders and defenders.

Nice article here saying Potter is too good for Brighton... Just to clarify I am genuinely on the fence about Potter. It is an interesting article but to say that Maupay, Trossard, Connolly, Wellbeck and Gross underperformed misses the point, except for Gross he brought or promoted all of them, paying £20m and £18m for Maupay and Trossard. It seems a bit strange to say if the players he bought were better they would be doing better.
