Whilst good in attack, we had very few chances to assess their defence. I think it got put to the test 3 times and we scored 2.

The second goal they had 4 men back in the area but no one looked out for Benteke.

Yes doombear, I think it is. It’s almost as if the Barcelona way mesmerised so many. Don’t get me wrong if is a great way to play if you have top players and I do think he could make a better fist of it with a top team. Answering the original question though, I would be worried if he came into Palace, the funds that he has had at Brighton to change the style wouldn’t be there and we just don’t have the players to play this way. I keep banging on about it but our midfield is dire, just no pace to pass and move.

Just to clarify I am genuinely on the fence about Potter. It is an interesting article but to say that Maupay, Trossard, Connolly, Wellbeck and Gross underperformed misses the point, except for Gross he brought or promoted all of them, paying £20m and £18m for Maupay and Trossard. It seems a bit strange to say if the players he bought were better they would be doing better.
The other angle is they have been unlucky and if you look at xg all will come good for them. You either have to accept he is the unluckiest manager in history or that maybe something is not being picked up the xg models. Brighton tried to play the way big teams do but with a the spark of creativity that can break a stubborn set defence they haven’t got the likes of De Bruyne who can create . They are like the top of pops records by session musicians you used to get back in the 70s and 80s, everyone knew what they were doing and were good musician but it lacks the flair spontaneity and creativity.
If I was a Man City or Liverpool supporter, I would prefer him to Roy, as a Palace support I’m not sure I would want him.
